I have so much frustration, anger and disgust that I probably could have gone on for a hundred pages listing all my grievances against the bush administration and the repubs in congress. But I managed to squeeze out a brief letter of thanks to my two senators for standing up for what is right.
Dear Senators Durbin and Obama,
I want to thank you for your honor and courage in voting against the travesty of human injustice that is S.3930, the "Military Commissions Act of 2006". I can't help feeling that the passage of this bill marks the beginning of the end of our American Democracy. We as a country have devolved from our former post as a shining example of freedom, equality and liberty to become just one more in a long line, throughout history, of tyranical empires doomed to eventual failure. Your steadfast fight against this perversion of justice gives me some hope, though. Perhaps the gradual slide towards fascism that has taken place over the past five years has not yet brought us past the point of no return. Keep fighting the good fight, standing up for what is right and just, and one day this long nightmare may finally be over.
