12. Can't They Just Pass A Law To Allow Reps To Do This?
Are they going to make him take one for the team? I guess he's not powerful enough that they can pass some law making this activity legal for house representatives, or perhaps more specifically, republican house reps.

18. Co-Chairman of the Missing and Exploited Childrens Caucus and Co-Chairman
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 02:45 PM by flyarm

what a freaking scum bag..all these damn conservatives are fucking pervs!

He is also Co-Chairman of the Missing and Exploited Childrens Caucus and Co-Chairman of the Travel and Tourism Caucus.

http://www.house.gov/foley/about/bio.htm

U.S. Representative from Florida's sixteenth congressional district.

Southern Florida's sixteenth congressional district includes residents of Charlotte, Glades, Hendry, Highlands, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach and St. Lucie Counties.

At the beginning of the 106th Congress, Congressman Foley was appointed to the powerful House Ways and Means Committee He plays an important role in reforming the tax code, providing tax relief, expanding trade, seeking solutions to save social security, shoring up Medicare, reforming welfare, and addressing child safety issues.

In addition to his committee assignment, Congressman Foley serves as a member of the House leadership as a Deputy Majority Whip. He is also Co-Chairman of the Missing and Exploited Childrens Caucus and Co-Chairman of the Travel and Tourism Caucus.

Congressman Foley has been instrumental in passing important legislation. He secured $200 million in federal funding towards the preservation of the Florida's Everglades; the first ever financial contribution towards this cause. Furthermore, he supported legislation expediting the deportation of non-violent criminal aliens serving their sentences in federal prisons.

A testimony to his commitment to youth, he also passed a law allowing volunteer youth-serving organizations to have access to F.B.I. fingerprint background checks when denied that access by state law. To ensure student safety, he eliminated federal prohibitions on notifying a campus community when a student commits a violent crime.

Foley also successfully sought a solution for surviving heirs of Holocaust victims who were unable to collect on life insurance policies. In support of healthcare issues, he passed legislation that doubled funding for rare disease research, which was signed into law by President Bush.

Even more, Congressman Foley has assisted over 1,500 individuals with Social Security concerns, veterans’ benefits, immigration and more; secured over $35 million in funding for important local projects; joined with Senator Chuck Hagel to propose a prescription drug discount plan for seniors; and authored legislation to protect businesses from frivolous lawsuits or “drive-by lawsuits” based on disability laws.

23. Getting out while the gettin' is good
RNC pulled him out of this race, plain and simple. He is well known for this behavior and it was only a matter of time before it all came crashing down. They didn't want this on the front pages closer to the election so they can still use the "Gays are going to kill this country and they are Democrats" mantra to sway the fundies.

Karma is a cruel mistress sometimes isn't it, Foley?

32. Wasn't Foley one of the spokesmen during the Florida "recount"?
I think he was one of the Florida pols involved in thwarting the recount. Anyways, karma strikes again. However, I do feel appalled that he was, possibly, able to conduct pedophilia while others covered it up. I'm sorry for the teen who thought he was heading to DC to serve his country and instead was hit upon by an elderly, powerful man.

37. Yes, he was. He was my congressman when I lived in PBC
I was on the phone with his office constantly during the recount asking him to support a full recount and to stop holding the line for the Bush group. I have many letters from him at that time telling me that Bush won fair and square and that he was only upholding the laws of the State.

Couldn't happen to a better person.
