Even with the bullshit firing of Malloy – which infuriated me to no end… I want Malloy back on the national airwaves, Mike’s too important of a voice to be silenced.
Still, one now also has to recognize that AAR is the only national commercial progressive network that liberals have.... Border to border, coast to coast on the radio airwaves, and on the larger satellite radio (XM), AAR has a huge Internet streaming audience and it’s archived and iPod ready to go nationwide (even in Alaska & Hawaii).
So then, where else can or would Malloy go?
I don't think Malloy wants to go the individual station route like the excellent Peter B Collins here on the "Left Coast" one station at a time getting picked up by a station here and there.
Thom Hartmann does a very good job picking up stations...but it takes years and even Hartmann is indirectly part of AAR. Ed Schulz also does well picking up "liberal" stations.
And there are excellent local radio stations like KGO in San Francisco with Bernie Ward... and has a huge radio audience in Northern CA & Southern OR...but again that's local...is there even another liberal radio station in Atlanta, besides AAR?
I wouldn't think Mike has the stomach to start from scratch with one little nightly station and begin to build again...But I could be wrong.
I'm sad for myself that Malloy is gone from AAR I watched as Malloy went through similar type of shit with i.e. America before it folded...
However, the Malloy's plight has also shown me what little options we have for progressive liberal radio...and what would happen if AAR were to go silent and exist no more?
The only other national radio that offers a "liberal" voice with a dedicated channel is Sirius & XM satellite radio..
But even Sirius "Left' is stretching the "left" a bit too much (its more like Sirius “Moderate”) with the likes of Alex Bennett, Ed Schultz, Lynn Samuels, Bill Press, etc… I don’t think Sirius is ready for real liberal radio, again, I may be wrong.
XM satellite radio, I think, is committed mostly to AAR –
I suppose no matter how pissed I am at the asshole execs at AAR –It’s basically all we have nationally. So I will support and encourage others to support AAR & Premium. What else can we do?
But I also want Malloy back on the air somewhere, in so much as Sirius seems the best of what’s available…Malloy's 'truth seekers' need to write and call Sirius Left radio in Malloy’s behalf.......as Kathy wrote, it is noticed and does has an effect.
Sirius must, after signing Howard Stern to tens of millions of dollars, have some bucks left to sign a great radio talent like Mike Malloy!
