GM Hires Fox News Mouthpiece Sean Hannity As Spokesman
It's going to be a while before I buy another GM car.

You're a great American, Sean! In the same way Baghdad Bob was a great Iraqi

2. This just occurred to me
Most of the freepers that I know here In my area (Fresno) drive either GM's or Chrysler automobiles, mostly GM's.

And I noticed that many of the liberals drive Fords.

5. I used to think that
and I know GM still employs many more American workers than Honda, but when I see GM closing plants and moving them to Mexico and Honda opening up plants in the USA, what am I supposed to think? Of course I want to help Americans put food on their table and put their kids through college, but damnit, it just looks more and more like I'm only buying a yacht for some fat cat. There's no way to fight back against this except through the government and we all know how promising that road is :eyes: No doubt though, it's a tragedy what is happening to American workers and not just in manufacturing.

6. No doubt, for me it's one of
the most important parts of the November elections. That ass * won't even listen to the pleas of industries begging for a little trade balance, much less act on them, but Michigan has two great senators doing whatever they can, and with a majority that just might be something.

9. Would it make you happy
to see foreign auto workers thrown out of work and into poverty in order to presumably provide employment to Americans? And if so, what's the moral basis for national chauvenism? Is it democratic? Is it progress?

24. I think our leaders
should do the best they can for us and other country's leaders should do the best they can for their people. Japan is not going to look out for us. China is not going to look out for us. I reject this one world government stuff that roughly states our standard of living and our wages should come down to meet other country's standard of living and wages so that everything can be fair. If they want our lifestyle, they can probably achieve it in time with the right govt policies, hard work, etc etc.

30. Oh my god.
What a crock of shit. I live in the Detroit area, people can't pay their bills and soon all these unemployed auto workers will have to figure out how to pay their heating bills too, houses are being reclaimed by mortgage companies by the thousands, men and women who once made a comfortable living are now competing for jobs at Walmart, more and more kids are eligible for free lunches at school and we have the highest unemployment in the nation. Most people here are too busy trying to stay above water to give a flying fuck about auto workers in other countries. Why don't you let us know when it's dire enough to worry about without it being "chauvinistic".Idiot post of the week.

8. Because
They make crappy products.

My dad has a nissan truck with 140,000 miles on it and other than tires and oil changes, nothing has ever gone wrong with it.

I bought an impala with 48,000 miles and;

the front bearings were bad, cost $800 to replace,
the cooling fan went out cost $169.00 to replace

It is noisy and poorly designed.

American cars just plain suck and I do not have the money to waste.

Design an affordable quality car and I will buy it. But american companies do not do that and so the hell with them.

Besides, I will buy from a "foreign" manufacturer who employs american workers unlike GM and Ford who are moving all the jobs away anyways.

I live in OKC and a lot of GM workers got fucked this year by GM when they closed the plant. So they will never, ever get another penny of my money.

12. Hard to blame GM when someone else put 48,000 miles
on your car before you bought it. It may have been GM's fault, it may have been the previous owners fault.

An Impala is not an affordable car for me, what do you consider affordable?

I have a Dodge Dakota 4X4 that I wish only had 140,000 mile on it. Other than tires and one set of spark plugs that it didn't really need, I had to put a starter on it a few years ago. Bought it new in 1995, best investment I ever made, except for the transmission, drove standard shift all of my life, but still can not shift this truck very well! Oh, yes, the transmission is the only foreign part of the car, made in Japan!!!

14. Oh God
The fault is the fact that front wheel bearings should not cost 800 fucking dollars. Have you ever worked on a car in your life?

I am tired of BS experimental designs that cost an arm and a leg to fix.

Befere this I had a dynasty that cost 2000 to repair the transmission. Again, I was told it was a new design.

American cars are pieces of shit and american car companies are run by assholes and that is my position and I don't give two fucks what anyone else has to say about it.

US car mfrs. have treated their customers like shit and peddled substandard products for decades.

I can't afford to buy junk to subsidize someone else's job. That's just the way it is.

13. As a GM employee
(albeit non-rep) I say 'Thanks a bunch!'. I and my fellow co-workers are now one step closer to unemployment thanks to your reaction. BTW, Hannity will probably bring in at least two customers for each one he turns away. He's become quite popular in 21st century America due to his masterful playing of the patriotism card. And GM marketing isn't stupid. Profit is key to survival and Hannity, as reactionary and despicable as he is, will increase market share.

21. I understand...
But, good marketing isn't accomplished by alienating half the population. If GM chooses to join forces with Sean Hannity...then it is, in effect, telling me - a potential customer - that they don't care about me, nor do they want my business. I'm sorry if my decision hurts GM workers who had no say about the decision to hire Mr. Hate Speech...but GM management had to know that Hannity is a polarizing figure.

that half of the population isn't the half most likely to be buying expensive new cars (not an insult - just reflecting on the socio-economic demographics of the respective parties' supporters). He's a big pile of dung regardless and I respect your decision. It just sucks that that is the way it is.

You can rationalize it all you want, but that's all it is. Consumers did their part to plunge the knife into American manufacturing by not supporting domestic businesses.

Yeah, that's a fuckin great slogan! You must be one of the retards in GMs management who's fucked your company up. Funny how the GM Pension fund is overfunded by billions but GM feels the need to build in Canada cause they have national health care. Hey, why don't you get your high-priced K Street lobbyists to lobby congress for universal single-payer care? Oops, I forgot. You're GM management. You only do the opposite of what makes sense.

11. Oh, God. The holidays are gonna be tough in my family.
I haven't bought a new car in over 12 years. My current car is a Geo - a collaboration between Toyota and GM, but basically, it's Toyota Corolla.

Here's the problem. My dad retired from GM so he thinks everyone should only buy American car. I want a wagon and few American companies have bothered to design one in the past 10 years or so. So, I was already kind of planning to buy probably a Subaru or a Volvo or a VW Passat. Maybe, just maybe, a SAAB with the GM Discount. But now. . no way. NO WAY am I buying a GM product, Saab or otherwise. Shoot, I may even skip the Subaru b/c GM owns part of that company now, too.

To make maters worse? My brother's a Teamster; always votes Democrat but thinks Sean Hannity is awesome.

Fuckity, fuck, fuck, fuck. . .

So, ok, probably revealed far more about myself than I would otherwise, but this weighs heavily on my mind. I'm excited about getting a new car, desperately need one as my car no longer has a working heater, and feel I'm entitled to enjoy looking for, buying a driving a new car, but now I have all this shit to deal with.

The Hannity thing is enough reason to disappoint my dad but then I risk hurting my brother, who is a super-nice, if a bit naive, guy who just gets sucked in by Hannity's regular guy routine.

;(

35. Try looking at a Mazda 6 Wagon
They come with a four our six cylinder engine.
They are built in Flat Rock Mi at the same plant that produces the Mustang.
The Workers are UAW. The Car haulers are Teamsters.
You can probably get a good deal on one right now because the wagons sell slow in this country.

39. This is just plain stupid. You don't hire divisive people to promote your
product. There's no up side, and there's a huge down side. People who like Hannity won't give his endorsement any more weight than they would a more neutral spokesman, like say, an athlete. People who hate him will avoid your product like that plague.

I'd be hardpressed to think of a more divisive figure than Sean Hannity. Maybe Rush Limbaugh or Anne Coulter, but all three are pretty much even. This is a downright stupid idea on GM's part.
