Thom Hartmann doing a Great "Rest of the Story" on HITLER
For any of you who ever listened to Paul Harvey, you'll get the reference:

How an act of terrorism elevated the leader to power...

How he was elected in a controversial election...

How newspapers ran full-page flags to be put in windows...

How he convinced people that the enemy was a foreign
people, with roots in the middle east and motivated by religion

How he pretended to be deeply religious...

How he agreed to a 4-year sunset provision to the revokation
of habeas corpus and wiretapping laws, in case the terrorist
emergency had passed by then...

How the legislature, not wanting to appear soft on foreign
incursion and terror, agreed...

Introducing the word "Homeland" "Der Heimat der alles Deutsch"

Within a year of the terrorist attack... "Gott mit uns"...
and most of them fervently believed it.

-------

In another post which got eaten by the server shutdown I pointed
out how all of a sudden Al Quaeda has been exhorting the west
with political appeals resembling a stereotypical media version
of the leftist critque of Bush... and I'm thinking... this is
nonsense. These people wanted to kill us, not lecture us about
how we re-elected Bush. They went after us when Bush was barely
known for anything. Now someone's pretending the terrorists
attacked us for our love of Bush. WE'RE BEING PLAYED.

Either the tapes are being faked, Al Quaeda's playing us like a
fiddle to drive us into the arms of a mutual enemy (Bush) to the
mutual advantage of Al Quaeda and the neocons (collectively, the
"war interests" here and abroad) or worse, there is some treason
involved.

-------

Thom back on with his comparison.
