My wife has been looking for a teaching job in Arkansas. She has been substitute teaching in the meantime.
Today she subbed a class teaching Geography (Journalism and English are her subjects she is certified in)
A couple of the kids started asking her who she voted for. She said that she saw no reason to discuss that in class. Finally she told one of the kids that she would tell them privately after class if they wanted.
The girl instead, said out loud, and to the support of all her classmates:
"you better not have voted for Bush, or I'll have to jump you after class"
Now mind you, jumping her after class doesn't show good judgment, but the sentiment that was so strongly supported was there
Also- on a less hopeful note, but hopeful in that the story is seeing the light of day now:
Here's a link to Larisa Alexandrovna's cousin's story of detainment by ICE authorities in Florida.
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Operation_Return_to_Sender_Stumbles_0928.htmlIt is a terrible story and it's just another example of what America is becoming.
