We find out, though we here already knew, that the monster henry kissinger has actually been advising bush on the war all along, telling him the reason we 'lost' in Vietnam was simply a matter of staying the curse.

Why don't monsters like him and poindexter and james baker and rummy and cheney and all those other fat, disgusting monsters EVER DIE?

That may also explain the 'stay the course' mentality of BushCo: they know that their dark powers will only last for as long as the sacrifices continue. So they have to keep killing. If they stop feeding the dark goddess other people, she may decide to come for them.
