Gen Odom Suggests "IMPEACHMENT" For Ignoring Consequences Of Iraq War
Gen. Odom Points to Impeachment
by AceDeuceLady
Fri Sep 29, 2006

A full transcript of the testimony can be found here (pdf)http://woolsey.house.gov/SupportingFiles/documents/Odom_Testimony.pdf. Odom was Reagan's NSA head, among many other important posts.

His reponse to Republicans saying we should ignore how we got into Iraq and focus on what to do now was:

Unless... we discuss whose interests this war served, we cannot decide what to do. It served no U.S. interests. It served the interests of al Qaeda and Iran.

Al Qaeda recruiting declined in 2002, Odom said, but spiked after the U.S. invaded -- rose in Asia as well as in the Middle East. And Iraq is a great training ground for terrorists now. In addition, Odom said, a wedge is being driven between the United States and its European allies. "Osama understands that; we seem not to." The invasion of Iraq, Odom said, probably saved al Qaeda from ceasing to exist.

Rep. Hinchey asked Odom "How do we get out?" Odom's reply came without a pause: "Well, the Constitution gives the House the right to impeach."

1. Who does * work for?
bin Ladin wanted the US out of Saudi Arabia and * obliged him.
bin Ladin wanted Sadam gone and * obliged him.
bin Ladin needed a recruiting tool and * obliged him.

Considering the repubs were the ones that train and funded al Qaeda, one has to wonder who * and the repubs really work for. It sure isn't America and the American people.

6. Very goood -- and the reason captures something few seem to "get"
Endangering the nation with gross incompetence is a perfectly valid article of impeachment.

Impeachment is not a legal process, it is a political process.

We vested the power to impeach in Congress, not the Judiciary, for a reason.

We the People, through our "voice" (the Congress) can impeach for whatever reason we deem necessary.

To often, people, including members of Congress, seem to think they must have specific violations of law to cite, but in fact, we can impeach on anything we have the political will to impeach on.

Even if Bush and Cheney were not destroying the institutions and principles we established in our Constitution, we could still impeach them for gross incompetence.

Tragically, Bush and Cheney have given us a virtual treasure trove of articles of impeachment to choose from. . .
