1. Here is what I don't understand. When Alexander learned about it
why did he report it to the "chairman of the House Republican campaign organization" (Reynolds)? Yes, that's really a rhetorical question, but it should be pointed out that from the outset, the Repukes viewed this as a political problem, not a concern or interest in the safety of the pages in Congress. Their first thought was POLITICAL. This needs to be shouted from the rooftops and pounded home to the public. It is all about politics for these people. They have absolutely no interest in the citizens of this country.

5. More important, which of the corporate media was in on it?
My thoughts are, the Freepers are claiming that the Democrats knew and saved the scandal for "political" purposes. If that were true, the press knew it also. If the press knew it, they were the main ones covering it up.

9. The kid's parents were told, apparently
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 10:37 AM by G Hawes
And a newspaper reporter.

That seems strange to me, but it's in the AP story:

Efforts to reach the boy were unsuccessful, but he told the St. Petersburg Times last November, "I thought it was very inappropriate. After the one about the picture, I decided to stop e-mailing him back." The Times didn't publish the comments until Friday.

Alexander said the boy notified a staffer in his office about the e-mails. The congressman said he learned of it from a reporter 10 or 11 months ago and promptly called the boy's parents.

"My concern then was the young man's interests and the parents' interests," Alexander said Friday. "We weren't trying to protect anybody except the parents. ... They told me they were comfortable with it and didn't want to pursue anything, didn't want to talk about it anymore."
