The President's job approval among American adults fell a point today to 39% making it the first drop below 40% since early August. Fifty-eight percent (58%) disapprove of the way the President is performing his job.
President Bush receives approval among 44% of Caucasians and 29% of Americans of other ethnicities. His lowest approval rating, however, is among African Americans at a mere 9%.
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htmI expect significant futher deterioration in the weeks ahead. The Woodward book, the deteriorating situation in Iraq, and I believe also the the stripping of habeus corpous rights/torture bill are all having an effect. I do not think the passage of the bill is going to play well to the majority of Americans, or is playing well even now. I honestly don't. It's going to come right back at them.
Also, 42% strongly disapprove, and only 20% strongly approve. It's been that way for some time, but the gap has widened.
On a more local note:
Shrub is coming to California Monday to campaign for Pombo, a localcongressman whose seat is being threatened by a a Democratic challenger. I think the visit will help the McNerney more than it helps Pombo. Shrub is visiting here at just the right time. Please consider donataing to Mcnerney's campaign to defeat Pombo, who has ties to Abranoff and Delay.
