Rahm Emanuel found this guy cause he thought he could give Foley problems. And this is all about head count. We need 16 House seats to take control...it doesn't matter if its a bleeding-heart liberal or a fundie wingnut as long as they cast a vote for Pelosi or whomever is nominated as speaker and the chairmanships turn over to folks like John Conyers and Henry Waxman.

One of my saddest days was seeing Gephart hand that gavel to Gnewt in '95. I knew then our worst nightmares were just beginning. For once I sense some sunshine starting to break through the clouds.

On Nov. 8th...or after the dust settles...then let's look at whose doing what and where. If Democrats take control of the House and we see DINOs and others too happy to "cross over" then we'll really know who our true friends are and work on getting Progressive candidates. First things first...one less Repugnican seat, one step closer to forcing our voice to finally be heard.

6. Mahoney won't vote for Hastert

for speaker of the House. That is very important.

I read the story at the link you gave and I don't think you are correct in your assumption that the Repubs threw Foley to the wolves in order to get Mahoney in. That theory doesn't make any sense because the Repubs have never minded having a hypocrite in office. Also the story about Foley will hurt Republicans in other close races. The only response Repubs have given is that Foley is the same as Barney Frank and Bill Clinton. I don't think that response will win them votes.
