Alot of this info backs up just about everything Kerry was saying in his campaign, and especially backs up his call to have Rumsfeld removed after Abu Ghraib in 2003 and again in 2004.

WE all knew alot of this stuff back then, but media would NOT give it credence and gave PLENTY of airtime to the liars who WERE working overtime to cover up BushInc's lies - like Tommy Franks, and just about every "analyst" General working to push the WH line. The words of Kerry, Clark, and Cleland were downplayed by that same media.

Woodward HELD the confirmation of these stories for a BOOK. What kind of NEWSPAPER REPORTER holds back the most important information the American people NEEDED?

6. Woodward betrayed us.
Woodward was seen as a truth-telling journalist with integrity and credibility.

So, when he sold those qualities to the Bush administration--he betrayed all of us. When he could have made a difference, and when he knew that the Bush administration was lying and cheating, he helped them fool us. Day after day they perpetrate a new assault on our Republic, on our Constitution.

When it mattered so much, he wrote books that favored them--and in doing so, helped them counter the books of O'Neil and Clarke and the truth that was seeping above the lies. He gave them cover under his credibility, purposefully, allowing them to use it against America.

Our journalists have failed us time and again.

7. And Woodward leads the pack. He set the example years ago and now
too many journalists look for the best moneydeal and financial security and the country and its citizens can fend for themselves.

9. Sure.
The guy was absolutely dishonest when it came to Plame. If he would be dishonest on that, he should not be trusted on anything else.

Now he's trying to rid himself of it, when it has already permeated every pore.

12. Woodward has been an insider for many decades
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 09:04 AM by formercia
starting as an officer in Naval Intelligence and briefer for Alexander Haig, a Knight of Malta. He became a 'journalist' after completing his active military service, thus becoming a conduit for propaganda.

I became wise to Woodward after I read his book 'Veil' and compared what he said about the war in Central America to the facts that I was aware of from having participated.

I think this is just a release of history as they want it,exposed under controlled conditions.

Just the fact that he sat on this makes him complicit.

18. That's exactly where I am at. How MANY "journos" ket quiet about war crime
behavior by the Bush WH? The NYT and WaPost were two of the worst in pushing whatever line the WH wanted, while BURYING their criminal activity known to them for months and years, in some cases.

and money. Now, when it appears Bush's popularity and the Republican strong hold is diminishing he comes out and tries to side with the Democratic POV. He knew what Bush was, he knew or had an idea, this war was going badly and he continued to promote him for book money and additional White House inside information. It is to bad we cannot hold these opportunists accountable for what they have done to this country and Iraq, which was, providing Bush with a cover.
I have no respect for this man. Senator Kerry might be president now if the things Woodward revealed now were made available to the public back when he first found out about them.

19. I think it's more than money - He worked WITH them for years covering up
what he could by downplaying its importance.

Or to point the finger AWAY from Bushes - like blaming Tenet in his last book, and Rumsfeld in this one.

16. The kind that is being given access to classified documents
when he doesn't have any business reading those classified documents. I bet he knows even more than he told in this book too. They played him like a fiddle and probably still are. I would bet the things he has told right now are just the tip of the iceberg ... things that they thought they could spin once they came out.

20. Many assume Woodward is a Dem-He's a conservative who longs to be an elite
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 04:15 PM by LaPera
Everything he does is calculated to make himself, the story first and foremost...and what his mostly fluff "exposures", become secondary - all for Woodward's massive ego...he's a power hungry whore, money & power mean everything to him...A selfish, backstabbing wimp...a conservative prick!

Other than that, he does write well.

21. Blame will always end up resting on another figure - Tenet, now Rumsfeld
But NEVER where it belongs - the Bushes.
