Poll question: American Citizenship

I have a friend from Germany who married an american, and has lived here for many, many years. I can't remember how long exactly she has been trying to gain her citizenship, but it has to be 8 or 9 years now. Immigration continues to give her hell.

My question:

Should I send her emails with links to political ideas about what is happening in this country? (I have hesitated)

1. Yes, she needs to know what she's getting into by entering the US

Our government is exhibiting proto-fascist behavior. Anybody wanting to enter the US to stay for an indefinite period of time should be warned about the federal government.

2. It's not so much that she "needs to see opposing viewpoints"

She ought to have all the information YOU would want if you were considering changing YOUR citizenship. I would hate to see anybody blindsided because our media is so lax in informing the populace.

your friend is having so much trouble.

Is she a permanent resident (has a green card) ?

If so, she is automatically eligible for citizenship three years after becoming
a permanent resident, subject to answering the citizenship application questions
satisfactorily and passing the oral test & taking the oath.

I don't pry too much, but do know that she married (so I'm told) an american serviceman and has been in the US for many years.

5. If she can retain dual citizenship, I would encourage her to naturalize

but only if she can keep dual citizenship. Why is it taking so long I wonder? I know many who are citizens less than a year after they apply.

8. I wish my parents had allowed me to retain dual citizenship

but they didn't.

I, again, don't know why so long. She seems like an intelligent and good person, so I don't know why she's getting so much crap.

6. Sad, because I know a bunch of couples

from Germany who come here in the US for 6 months, basically JUST to give birth to their little screaming monster and then rush back. That's a loophole that should be eliminated.

She has a right to information. She should be aware of what's going on here and make her choice accordingly.

An good American citizen is an informed American citizen.

she's not a citizen yet, and who knows what info could be compiled and used against her in this environment?

10. I understand that.

All I'm saying is that you make the risks and benefits of citizenship clear to her and let her make up her own mind. It's her decision. It should be an informed one.
