Wanna Win Elections? Support The Secretary of State Project!
Look at this smart, smart action! Please forward to your networks!

It’s time to get the fox out of the henhouse, and stop corrupt Secretaries of State like Katherine Harris and Ken Blackwell from throwing the election to their political patrons.

Any serious commitment to ensuring fair elections in this country must include removing political cronies from deciding who can vote and whose votes count. Now is the time to support candidates in this November’s election who will fight for stronger protection for voter rights and verifiable paper ballots in seven key Presidential battleground states: Ohio, Minnesota, New Mexico, Michigan, Colorado, Nevada and Iowa.

We've got an APPOINTED Sec. of State that is a total tool! You mean to tell me that California isn't considered a KEY BATTLEGROUND STATE?

9. California is the golden goose. If the Repugs can take CA, they
will never have to spend another dime anywhere else, won't have to steal another state. It will be worse than Ohio. Don't think for a second Rove doesn't have a grasp of every single precinct in California. We must have a Democratic Secretary of State!

16. California was red for a long time
It's the home of Nixon, Reagan, Pete Wilson, the Davis recall. Oh yes, California is definitely shaky. There are a lot of rural people, we have our own Bible Belt and backwoods communities, and a lot of wealth. It's only the Bay Area and LA that are mostly Democratic.

I can hardly believe Jerry Brown was once our Governor! Wow, those were the days, huh?

23. The Davis Recall was a scam.......
it has NOTHING to do with being RED. I've lived here all of my life and I challenge the premise that California has ever been RED. Too funny......

We better put our helmets on and get Debra elected. We HAVE to.

Vote Republican. Its a wash, this is the most conservative state in the country.

13. CALIFORNIA IS THE WHOLE BALL OF WAX FOR '08. If the Repugs can take CA,
they won't have to spend another dime anywhere else, won't have to steal another state. Don't think because you don't live in California this race doesn't concern you. It concerns all of us.

Rove & Co. are hellbent on setting up California. That's why they threw out Kevin Shelley, the last Democrat Sec of State of California, on some goofy charge. The plan was to install another Katherine Harris here. The repercussions would be more serious than even Florida and Ohio.

I believe California is Ground Zero in '08, and the groundwork is being laid right now with this particular race. California is not the classic swing state — it is much more critical than that. Getting a Democrat in this office is imperative!

14. I found a contact person for that action and have emailed
to his mailbox. It took a while because their phone number is buried on that website!

Let's see if we can get them to add Debra to this action.

Debra is a great candidate and she really knows her stuff!

24. I've contacted Sandra about putting together a fundraiser
for Debra. We really, really NEED her to get elected before we lose control of our elections altogether.

If things calm down a little tonight, maybe I can work on that. :hi:

19. I have more hope in Missouri now that a Dem is SOS there...
It's sad that the edge in an election should go to the party who occupies the secretary of state. Unfortunately nowadays that is the case and McCaskill has the edge in Missouri because Carnahan is Secretary of State.

It does have a little more to do with honesty, I guess, than anything else.

21. My paper ran an article the summer before 2004.
IIRC, something like 28 SOS were also co-chairs of Bush/Cheney.

That should be illegal.
