"So let us begin anew" John F Kennedy

"So let us begin anew--

remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness,

and sincerity is always subject to proof.

Let us never negotiate out of fear

. But let us never fear to negotiate."

2. My god I miss leadership that sounds so sensible.
Let us never fear to negotiate. In these days of Gop leadership to negotiate is considered illegal, unpatriotic and a threat to national security. Unless one is negotiating on K-street.

3. Diplomacy is better for people than bombs
But a lot of influential people make more money from bombs.

They don't issue patents for peace.

5. both sides, how romantic
The man never lived to see it become 1 side, corporatism against the people,
where the 'other' side is oppressed, and never heard from, certainly not
represented by either of the 2 1-sided political parties.

6. yes they killed him
and his son................yes they did.

but the words rang true in 1960 as they do now
his inaugural speech should be read again.

the rest of speech was not bad
he addressed the poor
the new nations that had formed
and the responsibilities this nation should have.
