If one of our ships in the Eisenhower Battle Group were to be fired upon
Would you back a retaliatory attack upon Iran? I expect this is how Bush* plans to get his war on. I suspect this battle group is being used to deliberately antagonize Iran into some sort of attack upon our ships. We are going to the Straits of Hormuz to set up a blockaide knowing full well they will try and break that blockaide. If and when that attack happens will it be rally around the flag because America has been attacked and let the war begin or will any of us see through it? This is going to happen so prepare for it..

16. Yes, Atman, Yes I can
an informed electorate would draw the same conclusions immediately. But, really, how many Americans know about or even understand the meaning of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution?

We need to start talking about it publicly AND LOUDLY!

18. I considered sending a mass e-mail to everyone I know
And just saying "Watch out. This ship is sailing, and I expect the Eisenhower will coincidentally be "shot at," as we re-live the Tonkin Resolution now with Iran. Be aware...leading up to this election, anything can and will happen."

But I didn't do it.

15. Don't put ANYTHING past this administration.
How many times have you thought that the administration wouldn't dare stoop that low - the stakes were too high, only to be proven wrong?

4. Remember that report about how Dubya wanted to paint an American plane
in the colors of the UN and fly it over Iraq to antagonize Saddam into firing on it? This is pretty much the same thing but with a bit of higher stakes.

9. I think we can count on them and we are
They have stated flat out they will not tolerate a blockade in the Straits. We probably should take them at their word. Maybe if it was the entire world placing the blockade they might not react but the USA on it's own...there is going to be fireworks and the whole world knows it.

Saying it is already a well-established rumor that we'll manage to have the Eisenhower sunk as justification to go into Iran. Just sayin...it's out there.

20. I can't imagine NOT striking back. What are we supposed to do? Sit there
and be bombed and suck our thumb.

Yes, if we are bombed, we should strike back - but be sure it is the correct ones to bomb. Don't be like it was before - terrorist were Saudis and we bombed Iraq.

25. Iran is run by an intelligent person so I can only hope he will
see through this obvious antagonism. They know there is an election coming up in USA and they also know the polls. They are not ignorant so there is at least a fifty fifty chance they will not be led into such actions until after the elections. Fingers crossed anyway...
