Democrats Lead In Enough States To Retake Senate
Click here to read the good news.

<snip>

Democrats lead in seven states -- all but Virginia. The party needs a net gain of six seats to regain control of the Senate.

Of course, election day is still nearly a month away, a lifetime in politics.

6. lots of conservatives in the state
... and webb hasn't made a strong enough argument. part of the problem is webb has only recently begun running television ads en masse. that might help him, but it's a tough race for the dems.

Don't know whether you missed it but there was a thread yesterday about a development in Virginia that was probably a little bit too optimistic for this election but that said that the areas with large populations are trending blue and that they are gaining importance compared to the rural red areas. Plus it was said that Warner would start campaigning soon for Webb.
Who knows, it would be too sweet if there were a nice surprise from Virginia although Allen has consistently been in the high 40s above 45.

Many races are still very close but in the best case, the Dems could win 52 Senate seats.

8. with allen-webb
the question is where the undecideds go. Allen has been in the 42-48 range. Webb has been in the 40-43 range. That leaves about 9% of the voters undecided.

If the bulk of those go to Webb -- which is possible -- then Webb makes it real close or wins.
