Bush signs the torture bill into law today. (AP propaganda warning!)
The AP reporter is positively gushing over this decisive victory by Bush & Co.
and step forward in the War on Terror.

Bush to Sign Law for Tough Interrogation

By NEDRA PICKLER

WASHINGTON Oct 17, 2006 (AP)— President Bush is signing a law
that sets tough standards for interrogation and prosecution of
terror suspects, a major White House victory that demonstrates
Bush still has the political power to set the rules of war even
as Iraq clouds his presidency.

-snip-

White House press secretary Tony Snow said that after Bush signs
the legislation Tuesday, the government will immediately begin
moving toward the goal of prosecuting some of the high-value
suspects being held at the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo
Bay, Cuba. He expected it would take a month or two to get "things
moving toward a trial phase."

to make sure you are humiliated again. Count on it.

7. That's what is so scary about this law
If they are denied habeas corpus, then don't federal courts lack jurisdiction to hear any appeals that come out of this star chamber?

8. No, because Hamdan is a prejudiced party "before" the fact, when the bill
is signed.

The Supreme Court will have to hear it and it is constitutionally dead in the water. Habeas Corpus was part of the Magna Carta 900 years ago.

The only thing that can overturn it is a constitutional amendment. Excepting two absurd other reasons which are ridiculous and have no relevance whatsoever to attempt justification here.

They can't make Hamdan a retroactive victim.
