Dear EmailNation Subscriber,
You still sometimes hear periodic laments over the apathy of today's students in the face of major political turmoil. The Nation's investigations, however, have turned up a new generation of student activists engaged with the issues of the day and creatively and courageously working against the forces of reaction we regularly chronicle.
In an effort to highlight today's student activism and writing, we launched StudentNation--our student-based web-page--late last spring. Initially, it featured details on Nation student programs and projects, activist resources, info on Nation events, links to student articles, a question of the week, a collection of featured websites and relevant Nation articles.
We've now re-launched StudentNation with new features and we're hoping you'll help us spread the word.
You can read new articles written by students originally published by our friends at Campus Progress, as part of a new online partnership. (If you're not familiar with CampusProgress, check out the website. A division of the Center for American Progress, the group works effectively to strengthen progressive voices on college and university campuses.)
We're highlighting six student articles each day. Today, we're featuring pieces from The Michigan Daily, The Daily Texan, The Pitt News, The Daily Beacon, The Daily Reveille and OklahomaU.edu. Tomorrow, we could be linking to your piece. Click here to submit suggested articles. The only rule is that it has to be written by a student.
We're looking for student photos to publish. Click here for info on how to submit shots. We'll even send a free Nation shirt to the photographer of any photo we use.
If you're a student and have something to say, let us know what's on your mind at The Big Question.
If you're involved in organizing an event on your campus or in your community and would like to distribute free copies of The Nation, please let us know.
StudentNation is also the way to find out when Nation writers are making college visits--or to try to arrange a visit to your school, what the deadlines are for our second-ever Nation student writing contest, how to apply for the Nation Internship and how The Nation can be adapted for classroom use.
