2. Many years ago there was a TV Ad

that purposed just about such a thing. It had two old, overweight white men, dressed in suits and ties, slugging it out in a field while others looked on.

The premise was, from the narration, that rather than sending young men off to war, the leaders should just duke it out.

I think that was back during the Vietnam Era, although I'm willing to bet that it would apply equally well today.

10. No, I know that one, this was different.

It was long ago, back during the 60's (or early 70's). I remember the picture (the setting reminded me of the old Coke "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" commercial). They walked across the field, each with a group of 20 or so behind them, removed their coats and just started to fight.

I don't remember the voice-over, but I know the script was based on the "Old Men Send Young Men" theme.

It pre-dated what you are talking about, C_U_L8R.

I recall one of the men contemplating his possible death in the war. To put it into philosophical perspective, he said that if that were to happen "the sun will still come up tomorrow morning". I think I have the line correct. A young person should read that.
