GOVERNOR'S RACE NECK-AND-NECK: According to recent public polling, statewide Democratic candidates are either ahead of or statistically tied with their Republican opponents:
- Florida's next Governor, Jim Davis, has closed the gap with Crist-Crossin' Charlie Crist, trailing by only five points (46-44) in the respected, nonpartisan Quinnipiac University poll released this morning.
- Our U.S. Senator Bill Nelson has held strong against Katherine Harris' multi-million dollar attack campaign, leading 57-31 in a Mason-Dixon poll conducted 10/16-10/17.
- In the Attorney General's race, Skip Campbell has pulled within the margin of error (42-39) against Jack Abramoff's friend and perennial loser, Republican Bill McCollum, in the latest Mason-Dixon poll.
- The same Mason-Dixon poll shows financial leader Alex Sink just one point behind the king of special interests, Republican Tom Lee, in the race for Chief Financial officer. Another poll, conducted by Survey USA shows the race at 49-47, also a statistical tie.
U.S. SENATE DEBATE TONIGHT: Tune in to your local PBS station at 8 p.m. tonight to watch Bill Nelson debate Katherine Harris. You never know what Harris is going to say next, so this should be an interesting one.
DAVIS TO CLEAN CRIST'S CLOCK TOMORROW: Tuesday, the first general election gubernatorial debate airs on PBS stations live at 8 p.m. Watch Charlie Crist, with the policy aptitude of a young George W. Bush, try to dance his way around his own waffles and flip-flops. Email grassroots@fladems.com with your favorite waffle of the evening. The best one will be posted at Crist-Crossin' Charlie's House of Waffles.
YOU CAN VOTE TODAY: Early voting begins today. Visit vote.fladems.com to find your polling location. Or, if you chose to vote by mail, don't forget to send in your absentee ballot! Do it today!
VOLUNTEER TO PROTECT THE RIGHT TO VOTE: The Florida Democratic Party is committed to protecting our most fundamental citizenship right: the right to vote. We have set up the Florida Democratic Lawyers Council to ensure that all eligible voters are able to cast their ballots - and that their ballots will be counted. If you would like to join this effort, please sign up at the Florida Democratic Lawyers Council website. You do not have to be a lawyer to join or make a difference. But if you do know lawyers who want to help, please forward this email to them and encourage them to sign up. We need thousands of lawyers around the state who can volunteer on Election Day to protect the right to vote. Thank you for standing with us to protect our democracy.
Please contribute $25, $50, or $100 today to help elect Democrats. We're about to hit the home stretch, but we can't do it without you.
