Freepers' take on Michael J. Fox's ads re: stem cell research
I went over there in a moment of curiosity and, frankly, now I want to puke. Examples as to why:

- - -

I wonder if in this commerical also he will be off his medication to cynically manipulate as all hollywood liberals do. According to a person in California, there is a documentary showing Michael J. Fox off his medication
- - -

what a piece of emotionally manipulative sh@t mjf turns out to be.

- - -

It is very sad that the Democrats are that desperate to exploit a good man like Mike Fox. We all liked him in the 1980's and feel sorry for his illness.

- - -

IMO, he is exploiting himself and also calls himself an American, while he holds dual American/Canadian citizenship.

- - -

It's sad to see Michael "jerk off" Fox's disease severely impact his common sense and rational thinking. The fact that he thinks that federal funding of ESCR is going to be the deciding factor in finding a cure for HIS disease so HE CAN GET BETTER and star in the FAMILY TIES REUNION and more episodes of BOSTON LEGAL is quite ignorant and highly partisan on his part. He completely ignores all the other research going on. He lives in a vacuum. I lost total respect and sympathy for him now.

- - -

He did not take his meds to be more pathetic in this commercial.

- - -

It is wrong for Fox to play on people's sympathy in order to get them to support anti-life candidates. Unfortunately, this is all too typical of the advocates of embryonic stem cell research. Many of the ESCR groups have websites that solicit sick people and people with spinal cord injuries to come forward with their stories because the only way that they can win this argument is to play on people's emotions. ESCR has not led to a single treatment or therapy and probably will never do so.

Pro-lifers need to counteract their propaganda with facts and to point out that funding ESCR will lead to demands that the government fund the creation of embryos for experimentation and that it fund cloning. I hope voters will just say "No" to the Brave New World that Michael J. Fox wants.

- - -

Is there anything quite as pathetic as a multi-millionare with multi-millionare friends trying to get common, ordinary people like you and me to fork up our hard-earned money to pay for research to cure THEIR diseases? Why don't they get a few billion from Bill Gates, Soros, and Warren Buffet? If they need more, get Ted Turner to pitch in a billion.

- - -

You got the bucks McFly....pay for your own damn research.

- - -

Words escape me, so - :puke:

1. They're not called "assholes" for nothing.
Again and again, they sound off like the jerks they are. As predictable as the changing seasons...

4. You should post that he owns the Fox News Channel
and that you are surprised that he would spout such liberal bullshit, and then sit back and see how many of the dumbasses believe you. You should do it because I wouldn't go near that place for a million dollars and you are a braver man than I.

25. I made one post there, a few months ago
Can't even remember what it was about, but I know I didn't say anything too lefty. Whatever it was, it was enough to get me TS'd. Just like that. One post. They're certainly an insecure bunch.

7. I guess that the fact that Nancy Reagan supports Stem Cell
research for similar reasons as Fox doesn't mean anything to them either.

Freepers are human scum.

Big surprise.

And, yeah, you silent trolls...I'm talking about you. Selfish, self-centered mold spoors in human form. They wouldn't know human decency if they had a transplant.

9. Comments 8 and 9 in the OP are about as stupid as anything I've seen
The first one complains that stem cell research advocates use emotions, and that the "Pro-lifers" need to counteract (sic) their "propoganda" with "facts." ANyone ever hear a fact from a pro-lifer? Anyone ever hear any argument NOT based on false emotional appeals?

The next one complains about multi-millionaires trying to get "common, ordinary people" to fork up hard earned money, yada yada yada. Has he looked at his party lately? Are their any non-millionaires calling any shots? Billions for corporate welfare, not one dime for real people, is their motto.

Bizarre folk. Not fit to be Americans. Nor humans.

10. Jesus!! Do they all just share one brain...
Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 12:30 PM by skypilot
...and pass it around?

Just a few minutes ago my supervisor was telling me that Rush Limbaugh was on his show saying that Fox deliberately didn't take his medication so that he'd shake more in front of the cameras. And here these idiots are repeating it--as despicable as it is--and acting as though they themselves thought of it when in fact they are just repeating Limbaugh's crap. Fucking idiots. I hope they are lurking here and that they read this so that they know that WE know how fucking stupid they are.

17. Yes, there's only one brain.
There's this jerk repug radio host here in the Orlando area. He was discussing this issue today, and either he gets his points from the freepers or lots of his listeners just go to freerepuglic and type in what he talked about. The comments from him and the ones posted here sound almost identical.

What's even worse -- this radio host is so completely dumb about some things, and yet the majority of his listeners, no doubt just as uneducated, take what he says as truth. GET THIS: today he said that embryonic stem cell research was done on cells obtained from embryos after they were aborted.

I almost had a stroke while driving. I'm almost stroking now while typing this. Now, who wants to place bets on how long it is unitl that sentiment takes hold on those forums?

16. It is what they would do and then some
that aside I remember watching a tv interview with M.J. Fox some years ago it was about an hour long show....he had to stop and take some more meds part way though he was looking about what he looks like in the current ad.

I wish Rush would just O.D. or something that piece of shit has done more damage to this country. Thank gawd we are finally waking up and putting voices on the air waves to counter him...we have years of catching up to do.

19. My question is
if they "Feel sorry for his illness" why don't they support stem cell research which can help him? It's obvious they don't care much for him and are in a thread that is bashing him. And of course it fails the freepers minds that the research now is only for people who can pay for it. Fox is trying to help those who can't pay.

20. They'd change their tune in a heartbeat if they or or a family member
were diagnosed. Like everything else about these people, until it hits them directly, they can't understand why people are concerned with helping others. The most selfish and emotionally stunted group of people who inhabit the shallow end of the gene pool.

living, post-born people. Sadly, they can't tell the difference, because when they look in the mirror they only see a fraction of a real human being.

29. Al Franken read a letter from a doctor who said he wasn't faking
I'm trying to find the letter on the net. The doctor said he did have to taper his meds to do the commercial but not for the reasons that the freepers and Rush are saying. According to the doctor, if he were still on his meds that his muscles would have been so tight that he would have barely been able to move let alone talk.
