Porn accusations turn up heat

Republican dredges up his opponent's fictional scenes of incest as campaign gets even more vicious

ONE of the strangest US Senate races in recent times took an even more bizarre turn yesterday when the Republican candidate published graphic sex scenes contained in novels written by his Democrat opponent.

The fiercely contested Senate race in Virginia, which could determine control of the chamber after the midterm elections next month, has been notable for the blunders made by the Republican incumbent, George Allen, particularly the description of his opponent’s dark-skinned aide as a “macaca”.

However, with less than two weeks until polling day, Mr Allen’s campaign yesterday released excerpts from novels written by James Webb, his opponent, including one depicting fellatio between a father and his young son.


“Some of Webb’s writings are very disturbing for a candidate hoping to represent the families of Virginians in the US Senate,” the Allen press release said. It accused Mr Webb of portraying women “as servile, subordinate and promiscuous” and assigning his female characters with “base negative characteristics”.

3. Guess Allen doesn't read much

Webb wrote war novels. A war novel without some depravity in it wouldn't be very realistic. Like a crime novel with no violence or a love story with no passion.

Are people really that stupid and uneducated to get that? As far as I know Allen make never have written anything more than graffiti on his high school. That says a lot more about him than than Jim Webb's war novels say about him.

5. If Allen's campaign had any brains they would have done this months ago

Stooping to this now just shows how desperate Allen and the GOP operatives are. It's like turning to a Plan B they didn't think was worthy unless they were despeate.

This is not like some sudden "relevation" that was passed over the transome about, oh say, learbning that some candidate dumped his wife on her sickbed for another woman.

Webb's novels were published and reviewed out in the open. And Webb is obviously not ashamed of anything he wrote.

So if Allen had wanted to try to use it to tar Webb's character, he should have done so months ago when Webb was being introduced to the public.

Remember John McCain SC Primary against Bush. Theoretically MCain
had a a good chance of winning. He had taken Bush down in the
NH Primary.

This smear attack knocked MCCain out of the race or it was all down hill.
"MCCain fathered an illegimate black child. (Truth, J. MCCain and
his wife adopted an Indian child at the request of Mother Theresa.

Bush Campaign got some group of Veterans to stand up and essentally
Swiftboat McCain.
Truth MCCain highly decorated POW. How the Republicans look themeselves
in the mirror is simply overwhelming to me. They will dirty up
veterans jyet send them off to be slaughterred in the same breath.

Another attack all but accused him of being Gay. "John McCain Loves
gays".

You can count on it without fail. Sex, Race, Questioning patiotism and
swiftboating will be the Hallmark Republican Attacks.

Now to Webb. Allen put out the passages (claiming such concern
for women) . These were not aimed at women by Allen. He simply
wants them played over and over because he thinks he can fire
up the Cultural Conservatives who seem to go ballistic at the
mention of sex. He wants to be sure they get out the vote.

This is typically Republican tactics and the Media is oh so
willing to oblige.

This is how Dems make mistakes. We tend to think Oh people are
not going to be turned by novels. There is a fundamentalist
section who responds to this sort of thing. Easily mnaipuated
to forget everthing important and do as the Republican intended.
Vote Republcan . They influence others and take them to the polls.
Thus nothing ever gets done in this country. Someday, someone
will go directly to that group and explain over and over
what is going on. That ad was not aimed at Women--rather,
Cultural Conservatives.
