ABC News: Military Recruiters Told Students Iraq War “Ended A Long Time Ago”...
Nov. 3, 2006 — An ABC News undercover investigation showed Army recruiters telling students that the war in Iraq was over, in an effort to get them to enlist.

ABC News and New York affiliate WABC equipped students with hidden video cameras before they visited 10 Army recruitment offices in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

"Nobody is going over to Iraq anymore?" one student asks a recruiter.

"No, we're bringing people back," he replies.

"We're not at war. War ended a long time ago," another recruiter says.

Last year, the Army suspended recruiting nationwide to retrain recruiters following hundreds of allegations of improprieties.

2. Technically, they're right.
Bush never actually declared or went to war with Iraq, just invaded and occupied it. Now it's more like a frat party gone bad...

4. Recruiters OFF OUR CAMPUSES!
And THAT'S an order! Especially if they're disseminating such falsehoods. You can't expect a republican administration to keep them honest

7. They have quotas they must meet or else they will not be promoted, which,
in the military = death for your career.

It's a high pressure job like any other high pressure sales (used cars, etc.).

9. Does this not speak to the "bottom of the barrel" strategy? What idiot would
BUY that? A functional illiterate, perhaps, whose television has broken.

16. Yeah, you better learn to read or else you'll end up in Iraq.
I mean - Kerry was right. Why do we have the pretend the Military is made up of rocket scientists and not people who could barely graduate from high school? Lets start calling a spade a spade. Look people, if you sign up for the military, the current administration will publicly applaud your patriotism, but in reality they couldn't care less if you die or are maimed because they think you are a stupid fuck for joining in the first place.

Kinda like when they "recruited" the poorest Irish in Ellis Island for the war in Texas. They were pawns and no one cared if they died.

11. When did it end? Probably when they blew up the UN mission in Iraq.
Ok, it certainly wasn't an end for U.S. soldiers who continue to fight there, but IMHO, that was the 2-minute warning. It should have ended in Nov. 2004 but we're into sudden death overtime in a "game" that will end in a tie at best.

14. It's a sad thing I say;
But at the college I attend, I would say a significant number of the 'numb from the necks up' crowd would not have a clue about Iraq. Or being in the middle of a nuclear war for that matter.
