1. The last time I heard a Democrat say "Waste of Time" was...
Mark Dayton in response to challenging the 04 election.

He is no longer in office. I suggest Pelosi take his lead and not run in 2008.

"Waste of Time" should be struck from the Democrats talking memos. People who say anything is a "Waste of Time", especially crimes by the top executive, are a waste of space.

4. Very good and strong point...

any Representative who comes out this early and announces there will be no impeachment no matter what, are guilty of looking the other way in the same way some in the administration may have looked the other way when there was evidence that 9/11 was about to occur.

2. I love our bulldog Democrats. But there is a time when you need to loosen your fangs.

The time to loosen your fangs is when you don't yet have a deathgrip on your prey.

6. Some here will bitch about anything.
If she went for impeachment, people would bitch she wasn't doing enough to stop the illegal war in Iraq. if she went for impeachment, people would bitch she wasn't doing enough to reverse 'this or that' policy. If she went for impeachment...well, you get the idea.

After 6 years of pure hell, we finally have control of the Congress! But, seems all some can do is continue to complain because their personal agenda wasn't met. :eyes:

7. I believe Martin Luther King, Jr., said it best on trying choices:
On some positions, Cowardice asks the question, "Is it safe?" Expediency asks the question, "Is it politic?" And Vanity comes along and asks the question, "Is it popular?" But Conscience asks the question "Is it right?" And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must do it because Conscience tells him it is right.

-- Martin Luther King, Jr., in his address to the SCLC Ministers' Leadership Training Program.

9. Is it right?
While I have a great deal of respect for Dr. King, sometimes, "Is it safe" is not spoken by Cowardice, but by Caution. Sometimes, "Is it politic?" is not the voice of Expediency, but rather of Introspection. Sometimes, "Is it popular?" is not from Vanity, but Reality. But, I agree, even with the other chorus of voices, the most important question should be, "Is it right?"

So, is impeachment "right?" Or, do we start off with investigations? To my knowledge, she has not ruled out investigations. Could those lead to impeachment? I am betting they would! But, it wouldn't be the first move.

10. What I'm saying is don't take things off the table before you know what you're dealing with
My own principles tell me it is an obligation that investigations be launched. My loyalty is to the truth.

Whether we impeach depends on what the evidence gathered says, assuming they don't successfully destroy the evidence first. What is angering me is that there are those in the media who want promises that impeachment is completely out of the picture, and my principles say that if I were in Pelosi's position, I would never promise that, especially since I don't know the truth yet, and an investigation is the only way to get to the truth.

11. I agree with you.

However, you and I both know how politics are played. Had she said "we will impeach," that could have had some serious repercussions.

"My own principles tell me it is an obligation that investigations be launched. My loyalty is to the truth."

I agree with you, yet again (see...it's not always about Turkey! :))

I understand your anger, but, Pelosi is a politician. Politics is like chess, one doesn't always reveal one's upcoming move by the prior one. Sometimes, it is more prudent to "play along," let your 'enemy' become complacent, THEN strike. So, I leave you with...

All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.
- Sun Tzu, the Art of War

Because, let's face it, we are at war!
