Hellfires are burning but we`ve got to wait for Jim Baker. Sit back and spectate. Dry our eyes and stop the reckless ranting. The guys in the suits are going to figure this thing out. The planner guys. Rolodex guys. They`re plugged in, connected and they`ll probably scan Cheney`s oilfield maps before coming down on the side of caution. Can`t move too quickly, you know, or the two per cent Al Quida will mushroom into a majority. Maybe just mushroom, like in Condi`s cloud.
What`s the rush? Bush still has two more years to straighten out his track record for the history books. Hasn`t he earned the benefit of the doubt? We`re talking about America`s image in the world, for heaven`s sake. Plus, we have to get a decent return on all the money we`ve spent: a new embassy, tv stations, mercenaries, bunker busters. Why throw all that down the drain because of some trumped up urgency we heard about through the liberal media?
So we have to redeploy a few folks for the fourth or fifth time. They`re volunteers, aren`t they? They care about spreading freedom for us, don`t they? Would you rather fight our enemies over there or over here? Pick one.
We just have to trust those in charge. Rumsfeld said, "We don`t know what we don`t know" and that`s a good thing. Why clog ourselves up with war misery if we don`t really know what we don`t know? We`re not supposed to know. That`s the idea and it`s why President Bush told James Baker to study things for us. They`ll let us know when they`re good and ready. Until then, just be grateful we have a president who`ll accept "nothing short of victory."
