MORE LIES: Sign Petition Opposing Attack on Iran!

They lied last time. They're lying now.

Dear President Bush and Vice President Cheney,

We write to you from all over the United States and all over the world to urge you to obey both international and U.S. law, which forbid aggressive attacks on other nations. We oppose your proposal to attack Iran. Iran does not possess nuclear weapons, just as Iraq did not possess nuclear weapons. If Iran had such weapons, that would not justify the use of force, any more than any other nation would be justified in launching a war against the world's greatest possessor of nuclear arms, the United States. The most effective way to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons would be to closely monitor its nuclear energy program, and to improve diplomatic relations -- two tasks made much more difficult by threatening to bomb Iranian territory. We urge you to lead the way to peace, not war, and to begin by making clear that you will not commit the highest international crime by aggressively attacking Iran.

Could Iran be the next war? BushCo is fully capable of trying to lie the country into another very tragic mistake. Yet this time we have some checks and balances to the rolling war machine, a DEM controlled Congress!

2. Agreed. BushCo could not give a damn about WE the PEOPLE, yet...

Going through the motions of signing a petition or reading up on the admin's new IRAN saber rattling sheds light on the lies. Keeps folks informed and involved. I don't think BushCo has EVER given a shit about anything other then his own very narrow minded view of the world.

Even if they all get shredded; the PEOPLE have a right to a voice. There will always be someone there with a camera, before the petitions go into the trash. And if we get enough pictures....

4. Agreed.

The people have a right to a voice. We also have the right to assemble and protest. If/when it appears that we are marching towards another illegal war, I suggest that the people be seen and heard. I believe that hundreds and thousands of citizens in the streets of DC send a stronger message than an epetition. But I do not fault you for the petition. Any action is good action, plus it will get people ready and their mind's set and help prepare them for the mobilization.

3. This is all a setup to get Chimpy off the hook for Iran nukes..

The repugs beat the drums of war "bomb bomb bomb" and when common sense prevails (i.e. Dem congress) then the repugs can blame the dems for allowing Iran to go nuclear ("we would have bombed them, but you stopped us").
