Let me see if I can get this straight.
Just about a month ago, hardly a member of Congress or the Senate wanted to be seen anywhere with President George Bush. In fact, TV spots linking a candidate with Bush were considered political poison in the North Eastern or Mid-Western states in America. Dewine in Ohio and Chafee in Rhode Island told Bush to stay home. The President's popularity was in the low 30's. That's here in America and members of his own political party.
Now, just one short month later, as the president's popularity continues to plunge at home, some genius figures that the Prime Minister of Iraq can shore up his crumbling (or non-existent) base with photo-ops with Bush in Jordan?
Come-on. If Bush is hated in America to the point where members of his own political party don't want to be seen with him, how does anyone figure that Maliki can be helped by being seen with President nit-wit?
Let's put it this way, if being seen with Bush was considered a negative in trying to convince somebody in Columbus or Providence, how could it be a positive in Sadr City or Fallujah?
