New Years Resolution - What are we going to do to take back New Orleans from Bushco occupation?
It's time we invest our skills and our help for those who were assaulted by our government and Katrina.

We can do it.

We must do it.

Because don't kid yourself. It affects us all.

How can we help and strengthen the locals to take their city and their amazingly creative rich culture, and figure out what we can do to fight back at the contractors and carpet baggers who are preying on New Orleans?

Just remember DU friends - it will be yours or my city that is next on their agenda.

It is all connected and we are all connected.

So please, add your thoughts.

What ways can we empower the locals and the Louisianans our nation at large to take back the Big easy!!!!

If we take back Louisiana, we will take back our nation.

Let's do it.

2. I don't know what I'm right about Traveler, I just think we have to take it back.
It's occupied by Bush and Co. That's what they wanted from the get go.

It aint theirs.

Nor is Iraq for that matter.

Period.

Happy New Year friend*****

3. One thing we can do right away is to keep developing our Katrina forum.
Edited on Mon Jan-01-07 04:04 AM by sfexpat2000
In the Election Forum, we do a daily news roundup.

Doing something like that in the Katrina forum would be a start and a concrete way to keep us informed and networked.

Link to Hurricane Survivors forum: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=360

Also, mogster has been working by himself on www.katrinaunderground.com He could use some help.

Not the end all, but again, two ways we can inform ourselves and develop our network.

:hi:

4. It's definitely important to keep an eye on the LRMPAC
It sure looks like TRMPAC 2.0 to me considering the same guy who donated to the SBVFT is involved. I think Louisiana will have a better chance with funds this time around.

5. I'm In The Crescent City Right Now
Just celebrated New Year's Eve in the great city of New Orleans. Went on a fantastic tour Friday which spent 3+ hours showing the devastation from Katrina. There is SOOOO much still to be done here, and anybody expecting help from our so-called government, is going to be waiting a long, long time.

It is Fucking PATHETIC that an American city is even in this situation, and that our leaders don't give a shit about a historic city such as New Orleans. Hell, they don't much care about anything, do they? Fuck up Iraq, Fuck up New Orleans. It's all the same!

If not for the people who live here, and those who continue to visit and support the city through whatever means necessary, New Orleans would die a slow death, and the * administration wouldn't blink an eye.

7. Nola is dying
an agonizing and slow death. The culture will not survive without the people and the people are the culture and they are not coming back. They can't. I am here in New Orleans, and we are beginning to face the "new reality". Many of my friends on the Westbank are trying to leave, though they sustained minimal damage from Katrina. We have an independent insurance agency in Gretna, and we are looking to move upriver. God knows, we don't want to, but we have to, for our employees who feel this is not the place now to raise their children.
The carpetbaggers have been trying to take this city since the civil war and the Yankees before that. They never got past Canal Street. Now they are winning, but they will win just the shell of a souless city, that was once the most alive, loving and exciting town in America and perhaps, the world. When a culture dies, it can never be revived.
On this New Years day, I wish only that the pain would go away and I could quit shedding buckets of tears for my beloved city.
There are no Katrina survivors, just those who have not yet accepted the new reality.
Do I blame Bush............OH YES This didn't have to happen, this didn't have to happen, this didn't have to happen.

8. Nagin and Blanco will help
Not to worry folks. Those political dynamos Ray Nagin and Katheleen Blanco will help. They love NOLA and are full of great ideas and boundless energy. They know the city has to take the lead in recovery.
