2. apparently, the seller has a house on a large plot of land.
the owner then split the property into the house with a small piece of land and the larger vacant lot.

the house part was going for 1.85 million (i believe) but obama negotiated it down to 1.65 million.

the vacant part went for 685,000 and the lobbyist bought it at full price.

I don't know what the ass was talking about, but it was brought up like a whitewater shady land deal. what was this asshole talking about?

7. Exactly. And if there's something shady about the original owner...
Edited on Mon Jan-01-07 08:40 PM by Fridays Child
...that makes Obama about as guilty of wrongdoing as any homebuyer where the seller is suspected of shady business dealings. In other words, not one whit. Frankly, unethical developers are a fixture in American real estate.

10. much ado about nothing
The land deal involved a shady character who positioned himself to have his ex-wofe buy the vacant lot and then later offer it for sale to Obama. Since he knew the guy from the political scene he bought it thinking nothing and then it became an issue because of the character. all who investigated it says it's alot of nothing. The reason it is news is because Hillary's machine and the repug noise machine are having a hard time finding a way to smear and have it stick. The middle name, the ear thing, ect. all slid off and did not do damage so they are trying to find something.

11. I love the smell of desperation
emitting from the right. With all the serious issues facing our country, the hate-talkers want to talk incessantly about possible Dem. misdeeds. It's more pandering to their base. Forget global warming, the disaster that is Iraq, no healthcare for over half of our citizens, the continuing loss of real jobs -- replaced with McJobs, and the larger scale perfidy of the Bushie CEOs who continue to reward themselves with billions for failing at their jobs.
This is why the conservatives lost the mid-terms and will continue to lose. They want to talk gossip like middle-schoolers while the liberals are tackling real issues.
No wonder the former red states are kicking out these shallow Repubs. Americans want solutions. No more talk about "family values" (from thrice-divorced drug addicts) or retread stories about Dem. land deals that weren't that news worthy when they came around the first time.
Go ahead and listen to Rush and all the others.
But you're wasting your life while the smart kids do the heavy lifting.
