2. These people are sick

It turns my stomach that they can be so callous about a young boy dying and make fun of him and yet call themselves christians. This is not my country anymore. It's not the one I grew up in and loved. it's become something out of the twilight zone and the episode is that everyone is hateful, selfish and mean.

Some of the posts on the first page -- which was all I read -- were crude. But here are some other posts from the first page:

"I see no reason for the pictures to be shown on TV, period! Especially during newscasts and other TV programming watched by children. Honestly, there is nothing informative about showing these pictures. They don't add value to the news story that he is dead now."

"Dude, he was a 9-year old kid! Calling a 9-year old kid a "terrorist" is damned close to being clinically insane."


Then there was a post " I get your point but it is not uncommon to see 9-year old kids participating in terrorist drills in Islamic camps around the world (and most notably, in Israel)."

and a response

"That is true and if this were one of those kids killed in that situation, you would be accurate. But this was a kid playing. American kids have probably hanged themselves acting out scenes from old western movies too. This was a tragedy not a terrorist in training and a perfect example of why a parent needs to monitor what children watch on TV."

Another post said

"Yeah, I love it when 9 year old kids die. . ."

(which I take as a putdown of all the obnoxious comments)

to which another person replied

"I don't."


Considering the posts made here when Ronald Reagan died, I don't think DUers can claim moral superiority over FR.

morally superior. If the freepers possessed a humanitarian spirit, they would be here with us, not wasting time and energy on that reactionary steaming pile of a forum. As far a Reagan is concerned, his death was a blessing for the world. The manner of his death may have been dreadful, but it's really only a shame it didn't occur many years earlier.
