The whole thing is a farce.
As we watch the United States media breathlessly waiting for the Great Decider to declare a new strategy in Iraq and displaying an incredible level of hypocrisy as he attempts to use Ford's death and funeral to his own personal and political advantage, sooner or later even the most dense among us have to know that this whole thing is a giant farce.

The Great Decider always stays the course no matter how much it may cost us. If you don't believe that, check out the BBC this morning.

The BBC was told by a senior administration source that the speech setting out changes in Mr Bush's Iraq policy is likely to come in the middle of next week.

Its central theme will be sacrifice.

The speech, the BBC has been told, involves increasing troop numbers.

...Bush came to worry that it was not just his critics and Democrats in Congress who were looking for what he dismissed last month as a strategy of "graceful exit." Visiting the Pentagon a few weeks ago for a classified briefing on Iraq with his generals, Bush made it clear that he was not interested in any ideas that would simply allow American forces to stabilize the violence. Gen. James T. Conway, the Marine commandant, later told marines about the president's message...

...What I want to hear from you is how we're going to win," he quoted the president as warning his commanders, "not how we're going to leave."...

...Bush still insists on talking about victory, even if his own advisers differ about how to define it. "It's a word the American people understand," he told members of the Iraq Study Group who came to see him at the White House in November, according to two commission members who attended. "And if I start to change it, it will look like I'm beginning to change my policy."...

Big surprise. Casey's well on his way to getting canned early for developing a plan that would show the Iraqis that the Americans really do plan to leave. The Great Decider disapproved. No, the Great Decider will make us stay until he's built his legacy and all the things that includes and if that includes causing the whole Middle East to explode and results in the annihilation of the few western friendly arab governments, well that's the price that we all must pay for him.

1. And yet is so tragically real for so much of humanity...
That is the sad irony of it all.

He's the Great Decider, not the Great Payer.

I look at him and think his siblings must have had the childhood from hades and the nannies must have been hard to replace. After a while word had to have gotten out about George.

5. I think if we drag up this from our life we will have it.
That self centered boy or kid who was always going to have his way at any cost. I do not know just where they came from but it seems every family and class had them.

4. You can win by killing 10x the amount of people who don't see
eye to eye with you that Saddam did. You can win when your theocracy is up and running in Iraq 100%. You can win when you realize that there is little if anything to win, but rather much to make amends for.... more than you ever could in 100 lifetimes.
