Please forward widely!
Dear friend of United for Peace and Justice,
We begin this new year in mourning, but not in silence. On January 27-29, people from every corner of the country will gather in Washington, DC, in massive numbers to remind the new Congress that we elected them to end the war in Iraq and to bring the troops home now.
On Saturday, Jan. 27th, we will march, and then on Monday, Jan. 29th, we will meet with our congressional representatives and their staffs to make sure they get the message. And to send the strongest, clearest message, we need you with us.

To reflect the truly national character of this movement, we have set the goal of having all 435 congressional districts represented in Washington during the march on Jan. 27th and during the congressional education day on Jan. 29th.
We invite you to help mobilize folks in your district and make your voices heard:
* Check our mobilization map to see if there is a local coordinator for your area. (
http://www.unitedforpeace.org/j27map) If there is one, RSVP to your coordinator's listing to connect with other folks from your area coming to Washington. If there isn't a local coordinator for your district listed yet, sign up to be a local coordinator today. (Click here to find out what it means to be a local coordinator and to register:

* If you can stay in DC through Mon., Jan. 29th, register for our congressional education day, and join us as we take our message directly to members of the new Congress.
http://www.unitedforpeace.org/modinput4.php?modin=121 * Organize transportation for folks wanting to come to DC from your district. Post the details of your bus, train or car caravan on our ride board.
http://www.unitedforpeace.org/ride.php * Help people find housing in the DC area through our housing board and directory of affordable housing.
http://www.unitedforpeace.org/housing.phpIf you are located in the DC area, there are more ways you can help:
* Sign up to volunteer for distributing leaflets, making phone calls and other outreach efforts over the next few weeks.
http://www.unitedforpeace.org/volunteer * Offer housing for people coming to DC on our housing board. In order for people to be able to stay through Monday for the lobby day, affordable/free housing is greatly needed. If you have a bed, that's great, but couches are also fine.
http://www.unitedforpeace.org/housing.phpWherever you are, and whether or not you can come to DC on Jan. 27th, you can help support this crucial and timely mobilization by making a much-needed donation today.
