Ladies and Gentlemen, in the immortal words of Tears for Fears....
Everybody Wants to Rule the World:

Welcome to your life

Theres no turning back
Even while we sleep

We will find you
Acting on your best behaviour

Turn your back on mother nature

Everybody wants to rule the world

Its my own design
Its my own remorse

Help me to decide
Help me make the most
Of freedom

and of pleasure

Nothing ever lasts forever

Everybody wants to rule the world

Theres a room where the light won't find you

Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I'll be right behind you

So glad we've almost made it

So sad they had to fade it

Everybody wants to rule the world

I can't stand this indecision

Married with a lack of vision

Everybody wants to rule the world

Say that you'll never never never never need it
One headline why believe it ?

Bringing Saddam Hussein to justice will not end the violence in Iraq, but it is an important milestone on Iraq's course to becoming a democracy that can govern, sustain and defend itself, and be an ally in the war on terror," Bush said in a statement.

Everybody wants to rule the world

All for freedom

and for pleasure

Nothing ever lasts forever

Everybody wants to rule the world

Peace Out fellow DU'ers...here's hoping that we see more justice for all in 2007

1. Before I noticed the song title
I guessed what it would be from that duos name. So - pats self on back but more importantly my thanks go out to you for the work you put into it. :)

10. I just got back from work, too late to change the OP. However, Peace In sounds
better.

8. Excellent; K&R
Irony of ironies, Dennis Miller used to use this song to close his HBO show. :scared:

I'm a child of the 80s and I love Tears for Fears.

11. He picked a great song. Who really knew he'd turn out to be a
cabal cheerleader?

It's too bad that he exploited this song's inherently counter-culture theme. Another reason to wholly despise him. (and I used to think he was funny)

He's gone now and the song lives on.

And, Tears For Fears is in the top five bands from the 80's. Maybe the top two or three.

I'm a fellow fan. :hi: MKJ

13. Most excellent....though, I think "Mad World" would be more appropriate.
Tears for Fears = one of the best bands of the 80s bar none.

The Hurting is sublime.

14. K & R, awesome captioning
Here's two more relevant Tears For Fears songs:

"Shout"

Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

In violent times, you shouldn't have to sell your soul
In black and white, they really really ought to know
Those one track minds that took you for a working boy
Kiss them goodbye, you shouldn't have to jump for joy
You shouldn't have to jump for joy

Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

They gave you life, and in return you gave them hell
As cold as ice, I hope we live to tell the tale
I hope we live to tell the tale

Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

Shout, shout, let it all out (let it all out)
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

And when you've taken down your guard
If I could change your mind, I'd really love to break your heart
I'd really love to break your heart

Shout, shout, let it all out
(Break your heart) these are the things I can do without
(I'd really love to break your heart) come on
I'm talking to you, come on
Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you so come on

Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
(They really really ought to know) Shout, shout, let it all out
(Really really ought to know) These are the things I can do without
(They really really) Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
(They really really ought to know) Shout, shout, let it all out
(I'd really love to break your heart)
These are the things I can do without
(I'd really love to break your heart)
Come on, I'm talking to you so come on
Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on...(fade)

"Mad World"

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
And their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tommorow, no tommorow

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which Im dying
Are the best Ive ever had
I find it hard to tell you
cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
Its a very, very
Mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me whats my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

15. I always thought of "Shout" as a (painful) love song. And "Mad World" is
Edited on Wed Jan-03-07 12:25 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
almost existential, at least to me.

"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" was the undergraduate version of their lyrical stylings.

Tears For Fears captures so much within their spare lyrics. The words are poetic.

It's been great to see the response from other fans. :toast: MKJ

edited to add...Their lyrics are so lyrical and resonating it's hard for me to find pictures that capture their message. Sadly, the cabal has provided a lot of images to choose from.
