Poll question: Who isn't watching this day of mourning?
I can't do it. I can't even stomach Chimpy, Tweety, Kissmyassinger, everybody that is being talked about today.

2. I've watched a few minutes of the early coverage
just for the historical aspect of it all but once the politicians started speaking I turned it off.

5. I watched about 5 minutes on C-Span and that was all....
I can never watch or listen to W so I turned it off. At these funerals different people say the same things over and over, if you hear the first speaker then you know what the rest will say. It gets monotonous.

8. 15 minutes this morning and I was done.
I haven't watched any of the coverage prior to this morning, and I just can't watch Poppy, et al, lying in a church for cryin' out loud!

I do feel sadness for Mrs. Ford; she looks rather frail and I'm certain that her heart is broken.

17. None, I tend to stick to print news and DU
because I can't stand the blathering idiots on TV, but I appreciate those DUers who can and keep me informed on the MSM's proceedings.

The 24/7 type coverage leaves the newscasters with too much time and too little to say in it all, and leads them to chatter on mindlessly.

20. I don't know why I would.
What, exactly, is the point of a funeral? A cultural ritual to allow the people who knew the deceased to say goodbye. A cultural ritual to show respect for the dead.

Those who knew Ford personally don't need my presence or attention to say goodbye. I can offer respect to the dead without spending the day in front of the brain dead tube, discussing the presenters and attendees as if it were some bizarre sporting event.

When I die, I want to be cremated and scattered by my sons privately, with no service at all. They can send out a death announcement to anyone who knew me personally after it's all over.

Ford's no big deal but a much beloved pet is. I'm guessing your cat didn't sell out the American people for a shot at being President.

would cover it. Caught a few snippets. People are forgetting the great debt SNL owes Gerald R. Ford! Did Chevy Chase speak anywhere?
