25% insane americans think Jesus will come to earth in '07 - poll

25% of the Country is Certifiably Insane

The Associated Press and AOL recently did a year end poll where they asked people to make predictions on 2007. There were some interesting findings, like the fact that there are more Americans who think that the draft will be reinstated next year (35%) than those who think we will withdraw our forces from Iraq (29%).

-snip-

But there is one number that stands out among the rest as absolutely unbelievable. Twenty-five percent of Americans believe that Jesus Christ will return to earth in 2007. TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT! IN 2007!

These people are nuts. There's no polite way of saying it. If I sound superior, too bad. Sanity has its advantages.
-snip-
----------------------------

the religiously insane are very, very dangerous

15. Including idiots in my family.

They really believe that JC and his Sonshine Band® are gonna shake shake shake, yeah, shake shake shake, shake their booty in THE GREAT FLOAT OFF®. RIght now, Jesus and his band, which includes Michael Landon, are at the Howard Johnson's on Alpha Centauri. Jesus is eating a clam roll and drinking a HoJo Cola. As soon as JC finishes his scoop of peppermint stick ice cream, He, Mike and the Band are gonna get into their AMC Ambassador and drive over to Earth where all rich white Republican Supply SIde Ayn Rand worshipping cross jockeys are gonna do THE GREAT FLOAT OFF® and float up to meet JC and the Band. JC will then fit them all into his AMC Ambassador and drive off to LASSEIZ FAIRYLAND where all these wonderful Supply Siders will spend eternity constructing and living in their own Galt's Gulch.

My family has been shooting this rapture shit since they were born again in the mid 70s. I keep asking them how long they're going to continue to be conned...

7. Is there an astronaut named Jesus on the ISS?
I didn't know Mexico was participating in the ISS program, thats actually pretty cool.

But I mean they should have more confidence than that, most space launches end up coming back to Earth, one way or another.

10. I was wondering when the Rapture was to be rescheduled for
It was postponed several times already, from 6/6/06 to the date 40 days after the Israelis bombed Lebanon, to another date I forget the significance for, but 7/7/07 is predictable. Then there will also be Easter and any days 40 days after any tribulation that might occur in 2007, for example, the seating of the new Congress.

If he does come, is he going to bring food for the hungry or peace or anything else good or is this like a whistlestop type of gig? BTW, I'm kind of digging the thought that he'll take all of these fundie nutjobs outta here and leave the place to us sane folks.

13. The outcome of any AOL poll tells us exactly nothing. There is
no point in trying to analyze what people clicked in an unscientific poll.
