Office pool for increase troop levels for Iraq???
Not to make light of it, surely, since good people will be drastically inconvienced, harmed, and/or killed, but what are the going guesses on the size of the increase Bush will call for?

I'm guessing 40,000.

2. I've read that they are now calling the "surge" a "maintained surge"
So it sounds like the odds of an escalation are pretty good for the chimp. I would guess the number to be about 30K until the Iran war starts then all bets are off.

5. Is a "maintained surge" still something called a "surge"?
I like the old Vietnam era word, escalation. Seems more honest than "maintained surge".

Honestly, the Bush Administration has been leading the stupid around by the nose so long that they have worn circles in the White House lawn.

"Maintained surge" my ass.

No offense to itsmesgd, of course. It's just that these PR people masquerading as statesmen make me so damn mad.

3. One assumes his extended family will volunteer!
Until then, our diligent media needs to inform the public that we don't have thousands more to send! Duh

Bush no doubt has no problem with keeping the troops over there for a full two years or so. They are tough don'cha know.

6. I'm guessing he's going to take a page from Vietnam...
Since 30,000 was "leaked", he's going to announce a 10,000 surge. The lapdog press will praise his restraint, snarl at anyone complaining, and immediately start humping Senator Lieberman's leg for his efforts at promoting bipartisanship.

8. I'm guessing he'll call for more than he could possibly ever get.
Then he'll say the Democrats prevented him from winning the war in Iraq.
