More powerful than Neoconservatism - Umbraconservatism
Edited on Tue Jan-02-07 04:46 PM by ck4829
Umbra is latin for "Shadow" for anyone who doesn't know.

I have created this term to alert people to the strategies of Stealth Conservatives and maybe get ways to help combat the Stealth Politics that they are behind.

Neocons have some power, but they wouldn't have gotten that power at all if it wasn't for these 'Umbracons'.

Ralph Reed defined Umbraconservatism in 3 parts targeting low-profile elections that normally attract few voters, focusing get-out-the-vote efforts on certain conservative churches, and instructing the candidates to hide their views from the public by avoiding public appearances and refusing to fill out questionnaires.

This was seen in the 2000 selection of George W. Bush, then the Governor of Texas who was really best known for his lack of hesitation when it came to executing people on Death Row.

He followed Ralph Reed's doctrine to the letter.

This was seen in the Reagan Administration as well.

Yes, there were several Neoconservative groups tied to the Reagan Administration, but what propelled them to the top? The 'christian' Right, who else? They were known as the 'moral majority' back then.

It seems as though Neoconservatives and Umbraconservatives have made some sort of deal with each other. For the Neoconservatives, they get elected, they get to talk to the leaders, they get power, and they get their Hawkish Foreign Policy put on the table. For Umbraconservatives, they get their Socially Conservative Agenda put on the table.

Without Umbraconservatives, there would be no Neocons in power and there would have been no administration of George W. Bush currently in control today.

We need to stop them.

4 recs, but no replies, must be one of those threads where everyone silently agrees with the OP, just bumping it up so more people can see it then.

your location, all it does is allow your opponent to improve his artillery bearings. It's better to move quietly, with stealth, under cover of night. You've got two choices: You can wear cammies and shimmy along on your belly, or you can put on a red coat and stand up for everyone to see. It comes down to whether you want to be the British army in the Revolutionary War or the Viet Cong. History tells us which tactic was more effective."--Ralph Reed Los Angeles Times, 3/22/92
