2. I've heard of Jewish rabbis claiming Hitler was a Jew
Me, I don't know why someone would bother.

As for the conspiracy stuff, oh, that's just extra points for trying to sound nutty. Maybe he really believes it, maybe it's just more PR, and it doesn't matter much either way in and of itself...

13. It's early
but the department of redundancy department is already open. I'm sure I'll visit it before the morning is out.

In any case, Hitler's family tree has been rumored to have a Jewish branch every since he first came to power. I haven't seen it proven, however, since his paternal line has always been open to question.

9. It was his grandmother that was Jewish
IIRC. It was something he tended to hide (gosh). But he himself was certainly not Jewish. He was an active member of the Catholic church and never left it or was ever excommunicated from it.

Strike what I wrote. It was his paternal grandmother, so Rabbinic law would not have applied. The laws of the Third Reich, however....

and yeah, sorry for the redundancy, but to be blunt, I felt any sign of subtlety would bite me in the rear...

4. This has often been noted
Hitler's mother was a servant in a wealthy Jewish household and it has often been rumored that his biological father was actually a member of that household.

17. his grandmother, not his mother...
Have to keep the rumors straight, after all.... ;-)

My understanding, though, is that all the evidence points to this being nothing more than a rumor. According to this, Hitler had more than just possible Jewish ancestry to try to cover up.

It's irrelevant, though, if Hitler actually had Jewish ancestry; the key issue is whether he believed or suspected it, since it's not too much of a stretch to believe that that would severely harm his already fragile state of mind.

8. There is a good chance that Hitler's paternal grandmother was jewish,
so, according to the Nazi's own laws, that would make him a Jew. As far as Hitler supporting the founding of Israel, the fact is that in the early years of Nazi rule in Germany they supported the deportation of Jews in Germany to Palestine, just to get rid of them. Even Adolf Eichmann looked into the possibility of exporting Germany's Jews out of Europe from a Mediterranean port, possibly in Italy. When Britain and other countries ojected, the plan was scrapped and plans for the holocaust began. Hitler's ancestry of course can not be proven, and to say that Hitler supported the founding of Israel is ludicrous.

16. Pure speculation as
any of Hitler's numerous biographers would tell you. It always bugs me to see assertions of something that the person making the assertion, has no earthly way of knowing.
