Home Depot Boss to Leave With $210M
$210M in 6 years, I wish I could make that much in my entire life. It is really absurd that executives make that much in a time where the salary of the average worker does not increase in real terms.

1. Hmmm, guess I do my shopping at Lowes from now on.
Maybe when we start boycotting these companies they won't have the earnings to pay these grotesque salaries/bonuses. Fuck em!

8. I live in Holland, ever since the dutch government
privatized the utility companies the prices increased very much. The executives always blamed the price of oil and gas. After the privatization the salaies of the utilities (gas, electricity) were revealed and it was really shocking, because these people were making 600000-800000 euros a year. At a time when the average household cant pay for the rising gas and electricity prices. When those companies were privatized the government officials said that it was because of efficiency, now I understand what they mean by efficiency : namely, stealing efficiently!.

17. Efficient stealing is right!
I wish we could de-privatize a few things around here.

Avarice and greed are gonna drive you over the endless sea
They will leave you drifting in the shallows
Drowning in the oceans of history
Traveling the world, you’re in search of no good
But I’m sure you’ll build your Sodom like you knew you would
Using all the good people for your galley slaves
As your little boat struggles through the warning waves
But you don’t, pay

You will pay tomorrow
You’re gonna pay tomorrow
You’re gonna pay tomorrow

Oh, save me, save me from tomorrow
I don’t want to sail with this Ship of Fools, no, no
Oh, save me, save me from tomorrow
I don’t want to sail with this Ship of Fools, no, no

16. Greetings From Sicily But It Looks Like We Are Moving Soon
We have been here almost three years but we have been ex-pats since March 2002 though. Bush and his "wonderful" economy drove us from the US. Don't want to jinx the new position but it looks to be in a lovely place in Europe. Details soon. :hi:

5. He's going to spend every dollar of it, for sure.
Pretty sure there are pressing needs for that fuckdiculous amount of cash. Rest assured he won't be sitting on it, and that's perfectly OK.

:sarcasm:

10. Shop at OSH
They have REAL people there to answer questions and REAL cashiers to take my money. It may not be as close to me as HD, but I can make up for it in return trips by getting my questions easliy answered and on the first try.

14. Yup... and stock is up $1.50 or 3.7% so looks like eveyone is glad he is gone...
He was a prick to the workers and shareholders and I am sure they are glad he is gone. What is amazing, is that part of what lead to his abrupt resignation was his excessive compensation package yet he is leaving with a huge windfall

15. How apropos. A couple of other threads here about economic
reports about productivity. Explain to me again how this concentration of wealth at the top is going to trickle down and stimulate the economy? At least if that 210 were cut to 10, and the extra 200 mil used to hire 4000 full time workers at Home Depot, then my productivity would be so much better since I wouldn't be wandering the aisles looking for widgets, and then waiting 15 minutes to check out because only one of the nine checkout lanes are staffed. Not to mention the fact that those workers would probably be putting more of the money back into the economy that the CEO will.

18. Remember when Bush made a campaign stop at Home Despot
a couple of years ago? No one could figure our why until it was revealed what a generous Bush supporter Home Despot was.

That's when I started going elsewhere for the endless supplies needed to conduct my ongoing series of half-assed home repairs..
