The Freepers on Ellison's use of Jefferson's Quran
Thought you all might enjoy some of the reactions over at the Free Republic:

But It's Thomas Jefferson's Koran!

14. Hehe. That quote from the Quran they found actually just says
that is it permissible to lie about your faith if you need to in order to prevent harm or oppression because of it. Then they find a quote from some Muslim as means to paint the entire religion with it. It's the game so many play (onboth sides): Find the most outrageous quote from somebody who belongs to a particular group and then say: "See! They ALL believe this!"

There are some intelligent posters in there though.

But this one is my favorite so far: "Hmmm...I was kinda hoping for a one line verse from the Quoran rather than a novel about it. I've always found that the longer the explanation, the less likely it is true."

I find this to be a basic Republican trait these days: Distrust complicated information and don't think too much before you set your mind on something.

30. The 10 Commandments permit.
I believe that the consensus amongst anthropologists, is that "Commandments" apply to dealings amongst one's own people.

All peoples all over the world have their own versions of the 10 C's. IIRC the number varies from 8 to 14 or so. They are the basic minimum set of rules necessary for people to get along in tribal groups. The caving in of heads in the next forest over, or raping of their daughters is not considered forbidden.

If the Koran specifically allows (and I don't know one way or the other) dissembling with non-Muslims then it is just a bit more honest and open.

research is. Of course there isn't the slightest notion regarding how to do it.

Some of them even stole material from here and used it so they would sound less "moranic".

Funny little freepers.

page and wanted to scream!
Here's one quote:
"Clinton swore an oath on a Bible. Clearly the book makes no difference... it's the character of the politician that counts."
And what would Freepers know about character. Oh, I know, from the president THEY selected!

I'm surprised that a Freeper could even read Mein Kampf. I'm sure that these Freepers have a lot more in common with Hitler than they realize.

21. I like this one

To: ClearCase_guy

I believe the koran says that a Muslim can freely lie to non-Muslims, so taking an oath on it is complete joke.

On the other hand, isn't swearing on a Bible totally meaningless to this guy?

JC/ My comment on the above:
In all honesty, I would have to say swearing on a Bible seems to have been totally meaingingless to Shrub, the Big Dick and their hired hand Rummy as well, going by how many nose-stretchers we've had from those good "Chrisitian" gentlemen since they took office.

Taqiyya (ÇáÊÞíÉ - 'fear, guard against')<1> is the dispensation allowing believers to conceal their faith when under threat, persecution or compulsion.

Is that what people here are always screaming about? Seems pretty uncontroversial to me. Christianity had that debate in the 3rd century, and it was eventually decided that while hiding the fact that you were a Christian during persecution wasn't a great thing, it wasn't something that should kick you out of the church either, which was what some of the hardliners had wanted.

Some people here like it because it gives them a "get out of jail free" card when confronted with reasonable Muslims. A Muslim scholar denouncing terrorism? Taqiyaa! thunders the Nuke Mecca Crowd, who then return to their loud complaints that no Muslims have denounced terrorism.

Its utility is similar to that of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which told anti-Semites that Jews would always deny the existence of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

28. Yes, it's the same anti-semitic type
spin that nazis and neo-nazis use.

And let's face it, have you ever heard an example of a muslim concealing their religion?

I never have. I mean, there's over a billion muslims - they don't seem to be hiding!

32. Jesus. Do you ever read their "about" pages? It's enough to make you vomit blood...
Like the personal scribblings of this knuckle-dragging racist specimen, who's thoroughly fixated on race and welfare stereotypes. A sample screed from this deep thinker:
- - - - - - -
http://www.freerepublic.com/~jonuvark/
ABOUT THE "N" WORD
The question isn't about racism, or the pot calling the kettle black. IMHO, it's about saying enough. It's about the frustration that good, honest, working people are being forced to support (AND EMBRACE) a degenerate, arrogant, hostile, militant, anti-American, anti-white, welfare and entitlement class. In my opinion, a n***er is anyone of any color ... Who leaches off the system. Who allows government schools to raise their children. Who won't take care of their families with a real job. Who thinks drug dealing is an honest living. Who relies on the government for survival. Who will allow themselves to be exploited by their own kind for political gain. Who thinks the "Bloods" or the "Crips" are their family. Who thinks Katrina was Bushes fault. Who are too fat and lazy to get off the couch when the water reaches their bottom lip. Who backtalks and intimidates their teachers. Who complains about disenfranchisement, yet they can attend college for free. Who owns a car, the latest TV and bling but can't afford dance lessons for their kids. Who insists that I accept deviancy and depravity as "normal". Ready? Aim. Fire!
- - - - - - - -

Will this person ever understand that it's the CEOs and corporations that are the fattest of the fat hogs at the government trough, and *that's* where the anger should be directed? I highly doubt it, this soul is just too far gone.

And they call the Democratic Party the party of hate???? WTF???? :grr: INSANE.
