‘On war in Iraq’

To the Editor,

On the advent of our 3,000th military death in Iraq, I am once again both angered and distressed by the “official” statement given. Deputy White House Press Secretary Scott Stanzel said, “We will be fighting violent jihadists for peace and security of the civilized world for years to come. The brave men and women of the U.S. military are fighting extremists in order to stop them from attacking on our soil again.”

Again, the White House attempts to cloud the ugliness of this war by trying to connect Iraq and 9/11. Do you buy this, America? How many of the 9/11 attackers were Iraqi? Why aren’t we attacking Saudi Arabia, if we are truly concerned about extremists who wish to do us harm?

As the mother of a soldier who has served in Iraq, now for the third time, I am offended by this childish attempt to excuse this fiasco by blaming the victim. Our servicemen and women have died and been wounded for a cause that was misrepresented to them. They were lied to. Now, the only cause they serve is protecting their buddy, and making it home in one piece. Those of you who still support the lies owe these soldiers, their families and the wounded veterans of this war an apology ... for perpetuating this lie. May we bring all our troops home sooner rather than later, and may all who have profitted from their deaths and injuries be tried for war crimes.

1. This is what I think...
They believe that, similarly, in the U.S. urban neighborhoods that were once high crime areas are now yuppie domiciles thanks to police crackdowns and other government controls.

Basically they think they can gentrify the ME. Obviously it's a dumb idea.

4. Great letter
If anyone harasses you, you could suggest that they send one of their own kids or their own pitiful butt to Iraq. What hypocrisy that Bush will speak of sacrifice when he himself and the vast majority of his dwindling number of supporters have and will make no sacrifices themselves. Sacrifice is for other less privileged people.

I hope your son is home safe for good in the near future.

5. Great letter! 3000 dead American soldiers, almost 3000
Americans killed on September 11th.

Osama is still walking the planet free as a bird and the REPUBLICAN spin machine is in a circle-jerk over calling Obama, Osama and their collective resounding silence over BUSH'S failure to get the person responsible for 9-11 is apalling.
The 3000 dead in Iraq have died in vain. they have died for a lie, they have died for a coward who did not posess the intestinal fortitude to wear the uniform of the United States Military. Yes, he ditched his uniform and ran. Daddy cleaned up the mess.

How does one clean up the mess of 3000 who died for your lie? Catching Osama tomorrow would not cleanse the blood from Bush's hands. How sad.
