3. In Addition, Sir
Being assailed by radical elements always increases popularity among swing-voters, who react against such displays usually, and will feel better voting for Democrats with such reasons to believe doing so will not be associating themselves with "the protest crowd"....

6. But With A Friendly Intent, Ma'am
For better or worse, it is the actual state of affairs in our country's political life. It would be a great miscalculation to think the people's distaste for the war in Iraq stems from a view that it is criminal or immoral or even that the death of soldiers is not worth a national objective. The people are repulsed by the spectacle of incompetence and defeat, and want the damned thing over and out of their faces so they can forget it: if they thought for a moment it could be won or was worth winning their attitude would be very different. Most will still react with anger to cries the U.S. is engaged in criminal imperialism and the like.
