Neil Boortz was spewing crap yesterday, apparently told viewers that Dems would give full amnesty to 50 million people in this Country illegally and give them all Social Security benefits & other benefits of citizenship so they would all vote for Democrats. My Father called and he was so pissed off he could hardly talk. Said the bill was on Bush's desk and W was going to sign it in the next 2 or 3 days...
Good old Faux News.

with his listeners? I don't listen to him or read his website but every time I hear about something he has said, it is a big fat lie.

4. I was forced to send the story about the news being able to lie to him. |
|
I told him how Fox News was sued and won over their right to pass off BS as News, "I'd like to see that", he said. I was more than happy to oblige.

Dems like Republicans are split down the middle on the illegal immigration issue. There is always lots of posturing from either sides, but nothing ever gets done.
The problem is that most potentional deportations would include alien parents with children who are US citizens. Separating minor citizens from their parents via deportation is not a good thing. Having these same parents in the US with no real legal rights is not a good situation either.
The action that SHOULD be taken is an amendment to end automatic citizenship for all births inside US territory. A nice "final amnesty" deal could be struck in this way (yes I'm aware that the previous amnesty was supposed to be the "final amnesty). A provision in an amendment bill would grant amnesty when the provision ending territorial birth citizenship goes into effect. At that point there is no implicit promise of citizenship to lure illegals anymore.
I am not heartless. I believe we need to get serious with Mexico about the state of their population. They need improvements in minimum wage and social services that would make staying in Mexico preferable to a harrowing illegal journey to the United States. If Mexico is not interested, than we need to seriously consider the fact that so many Mexicans would rather be American. If the United States is to be responsible for this population in a de-facto matter than perhaps we should threaten forcible statehood.
