Deputy White House Press Secretary Scott Stanzel said, "We will be fighting violent jihadists for peace and security of the civilized world for years to come. The brave men and women of the U.S. military are fighting extremists in order to stop them from attacking on our soil again."
The White House again attempts to cloud the ugliness of this war by trying to connect Iraq and 9/11. How many of the 9/11 attackers were Iraqi? Why aren't we attacking Saudi Arabia?
As the mother of a soldier who served in Iraq, I am offended by this childish attempt to excuse this fiasco. Our servicemen and women have died for a cause that was misrepresented to them. Now, the only cause they serve is protecting their buddy and making it home in one piece.
At least my local paper had the balls to print it all
http://www.thedailylight.com/articles/2007/01/04/dailylight/opinion/letters_to_the_editor/letter2.txtOn the advent of our 3,000th military death in Iraq, I am once again both angered and distressed by the “official” statement given. Deputy White House Press Secretary Scott Stanzel said, “We will be fighting violent jihadists for peace and security of the civilized world for years to come. The brave men and women of the U.S. military are fighting extremists in order to stop them from attacking on our soil again.”
Again, the White House attempts to cloud the ugliness of this war by trying to connect Iraq and 9/11. Do you buy this, America? How many of the 9/11 attackers were Iraqi? Why aren’t we attacking Saudi Arabia, if we are truly concerned about extremists who wish to do us harm?
As the mother of a soldier who has served in Iraq, now for the third time, I am offended by this childish attempt to excuse this fiasco by blaming the victim. Our servicemen and women have died and been wounded for a cause that was misrepresented to them. They were lied to. Now, the only cause they serve is protecting their buddy, and making it home in one piece. Those of you who still support the lies owe these soldiers, their families and the wounded veterans of this war an apology ... for perpetuating this lie. May we bring all our troops home sooner rather than later, and may all who have profitted from their deaths and injuries be tried for war crimes.
