3. The Republic party
should do it nicely, thanks.

Dumb bastards are so pig ignorant it never fails to astonish me. The only way to get through to these wads of rage and hate is to do it to them, although I hate stooping that low.

I'm sure I'll cope, though.

6. just call them Repukes and let it go at that...
it's not that big a deal nor is it a slur, per se. Just laziness.

14. Woot!!!
Excellent suggestion!!

I watched his speech, and at one moment he warned the "Democrat Party" that if they didn't behave, they'd be in the minority soon. The chorus of boos from our side was uplifting, and the looks on Speaker Pelosi's, Rangel's and Emmanuel's faces was PRICELESS.

10. Ugh...That little twit McHenry did it this morning as well...
on C-Span...If I would have had a phone within my reach, I would have corrected him in front of everybody.

He just reminds me of that little smart-ass kid everyone went to school with, that had his head thumped a couple of times a week....just because. :spank:

11. I could never understand this

Yes, as a Democrat I don't like it when they call our party "the Democrat Party", but what's the true value of it? Do Americans dislike that word more than "Democratic?" It's certainly going above the heads of the average citizen.

So, then what is the purpose? Just to piss on the Democrats in the US House and Senate? That would be childish playground antics. I have seen only one Dem EVER take exception to this wordplay and since then nothing...are national Dems just ignoring it, letting the idiot children be idiot children, and are worrying with actual business?

I just don't get the agenda in using this word such that the Repukes do.

13. The agenda is this..
It's a concerted effort to demean the party. It's like being named William and being called Willie..over and over and over by people who KNOW you want to be called William.

They do it because it "sounds" oh-so-innocent..a slip of the tongue, and when a democrat complains, they can say "Hey ..why so thin-skinned, there..WILLIE?"..and then they all guffaw and pretend to be flummoxed at all the hub-bub over "nothing"..

It's passive aggressive behavior, on a grand scale.

16. It's childish, and it is therefore proper to pronounce it correctly---in a tone

condescending enough to imply pity on the "slow learner".

17. It's one of the many ways they control the discourse...
...and if we allow it to go unanswered, as we have for many of their talking points and linguistic bs, then we cede the discourse to them.

Fortunately we have started noticing, and correcting them. I agree with others here that correcting them is simply not enough, we need to do tit for tat. Call them the Republic party. And by all means, call him "Boner".

And while it goes over the heads of most citizens, for that very reason it embeds itself in their consciousness, paving the way for their other talking points.

Look up literature on neurolinguistic programming. These people have mastered it and are making use of it. We can shudder and not want to sully our hands by using such manipulative tactics -- but we must, at the very least, fight fire with fire when these tactics are encountered.

12. I couldn't believe he actually used that term for such a...
formal occasion. It was an intentional insult, the Rethug version of a rebel yell. And then he had the nerve to lecture the incoming Democratic Party on being nice.

And he sat for two hours looking totally pissy and childish. What a jerk! I'm so glad he is not the Speaker.
