House GOPer: Looking Back, We Coulda Been Nicer
and if I coulda, I woulda.

Ah, so the question finally gets answered. Isn't the Republican newfound concern for minority rights a tad hypocritical?

From Roll Call (sub. req.):

When asked why Republicans were now endorsing proposals they long ignored, incoming Chief Deputy Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) conceded the GOP had erred last year.
“In hindsight, I think was right,” Cantor told reporters, adding that Pelosi is now the one ignoring the resolution, which would require more specific minority rights to control the floor, including the 24-hour requirement to review bills and conference reports.

Cantor, of course, was a member of the Republican leadership in the last Congress.

4. The myth of the middle
There is a great deal of political spin made about how the middle should be strove as a form of balance. But that way leads to stagnation and ineffectiveness. Ideas need to be tried in the fullness of their construction. Modifying them to fit some middle ground can easily destroy their effectiveness. And once you realize that the GOP and their corporate cronies don't like the idea of a strong government watching out for the people then you realize why they like to talk about bipartisanship when they don't have control.

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
