should be strapped down, eyeballs pulled open and given the Clockwork Orange treatment - and made to watch this powerful, honest, incredible movie that is relevant on so many levels. I would post so much on this, but am so angry and emotional that I can't think - or type straight. What the hell are we doing over there? How can we stay - never mind surge - what sort of mass deception is being played on our country by the misadministration. Why are so many in this country so asleep at the wheel and swallowing it (and yes, I know it is getting better, but the Bush approval rating should be ZERO).

OK, settled down a bit, so a bit more. Key themes for me from the movie - the lies and manipulations of the recruiters, the brainwashing experienced in basic training - essentially creating killing machines, people who in many cases will never be the same, the senseless of the was - as stated by those who found themselves fighting it; the courage, honesty, valor of those who are putting their lives on the line for a lie and a naked emperor; the complete and utter disregard for those returning home....the incredible underreporting of the impact, both on our men and women, and those in Iraq just caught in the crossfire. There is so much more - this movie is poignant, tragic, unforgettable, and essential.

Any DUer who has not seen The Ground Truth.....must.

1. My friend's son is in that movie!
Yes, it is very depressing but I am so grateful to the soldiers who were brave enough to participate in it.

2. Never heard of it
After watching the Dark Side on PBS the other night- a rerun-even though I already had most of it memorized, I'm convinced that without light we won't get our country back. And that means the Republicans, Neo-cons, Neo-fascists must be held to account. If that means the sorry assed Dems admiting they were stupid, or just plain were HAD, AND didn't read the intelligence estimates-in the Dark Side- made the point that "few did" even though of course most of it was utter propaganda and hogwash anyway-well, this country needs some light. Going on with the same old plan is never going to get us anything. Will we have bogus bullshit lie war number 3 in another 30 years????????????

IS Vietnam and IRAQ not enough of a lesson? Learn some history, and learn the truth. Watching the Dark Side on PBS is ENOUGH of an indictment right there all laid out that these criminals should be shamed out of office. And the Ford funeral brought it all home. Pardon them!!!!!!!!! Call it healed!!!!! Let the criminals free and pretend America is better.

CAN't WAIT for Bush's funeral and to hear how he saved us in our worst hour of need-9/11. Nothing can change without the truth. Without holding them to account. This country is going towards the dustbin of history-slowly-but it's going there on the weight of it's own ignorance.

3. I just watched half of "The Dark Side" tonight -- in horrified fascination.
I found a site for it somewhere -- http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/darkside/view/1.html?c=2wm

I bought "The Ground Truth" because somebody on D.U. recommended it, and it is a deeply well-done film. These thoughtful soldiers, who risked so much, tried so hard, will never be the same, hold so little against us. Great film-making, The Ground Truth, highly recommended.
