I need some research help: Can anyone tell me where to find out how many Generals resigned
(Doesn't have to be all services, just Army and Marine would do) esch year for the last five years or so?

I'm betting there were a lot more in 2005 and 2006 than prior years, but I can't thing of where to go to look.

Thanks in advance,

Redstone

1. Redstone this is a great question
If you find the answer let me know....

With these experienced Military Leaders resigning or forced into retirement...the military is losing the critical experience it needs to recover from this debacle....

2. google
I'd start there. Depends on the years. You could type in Generals resigning posts 1970-1990 or something like that. I would start there and see what you can find.

http://www.defenselink.mil/Releases/Release.aspx

It has every anouncement back to Oct '94 in the archive.

I have tried to cross reference a "resigned" General to find what heading they may appear under but have been unable to. The closest I have come was Eric Shinseki who has been said to resign on June 11 2003, however in Wiki it says he retired.

6. Would appreciate a follow-up when possible.

I've heard that field grade Army promotions are moving faster than ever; presumably that is to fill openings one way or another.
