Now we have a yachtsman with an injury whose tearful family is trying to get him rescued..from his trip he started in October.

How many "regular people" can take off work for months to sail around the world in their yacht.. or to undertake dangerous treks / climbs / adventures ..and due to lack of planning, bad luck or who-knows-what...find themselves in trouble, needing rescues.?

I know that an adventurous spirit is an "American tradition", but I'm finding it hard to get all worried for the safety of people who put themselves into dangerous predicaments and then scream and holler when they can't get out of the fixes they get into..

CNN (Larry King) is lapping this stuff up like a kitten at a saucer of milk..

and no doubt when the goofball is rescued, he will be given a precious hour of tv time to give us all a blow by blow of his ordeal..

2. I've known several rich men
None of them cared to go ice climbing with me. (I'm not rich, by the way.) For the most part, they preferred to stay close to their coke and their mistresses. So, actually, rich guys who take the opportunity to extend their spirit by exposing themselves to nature on nature's terms, and all the risks that entails, are OK in my book.

Your comments strike me as, well, rather judgmental.
